Morning Bite?

I live and fish in Pinckney. I have never been out on the ice for the early morning bite. I have always been out later in the afternoon. Do the crappie bite in the morning like they do as the sun is setting? I am getting the old man out on the ice first thing in the morning and first time this season. Hope I can get him on some fish. Any advice is greatly apreciated.
