I own a Polaris 2000 Trailboss 325 that I use primarily in the Summer months. I have used it to plow snow and it works fine on pavement and when it's somewhat icy I have chains for the rear tires which give near perfect traction.
Has anyone ever used a 2x4 or 2x4 concentric drive to go ice fishing? I would have to drive it through some good snow drifts to make it to the ice and I'm not sure how it would ride on a snow covered lake?
It's parked 3 hours from here otherwise I'd just go get it and get stuck trying.
Thanks.

If its hard packed snow, know problem. If you have six inches of snow or
more could be a problem.I have a honda big I take it out all the time, but
if there's a alot of snow for get it.

If you put chains on it you'll be surprised where it'll go even with 2wd.

I agree chains make a world of difference. If the quad has decent ground clearance, you should have no problems.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Perhaps I'll throw the chains on there and giver it a spin if I can muster up the ambition to head up north.
Can I call on you guys when I'm stuck in the middle of the lake?

I have used my polaris trailerblazer, 2 stroke, 250cc, 2wheel drive, for years. I have had as many as 6 people out with, me pulling them and all gear on a 12x6 trailer and even dragging the shacks behind the trailer:) I always use chains and have only had trouble one time. That was last year on Erie. The drifts were deep and wet and everyone had trouble did not matter if it was 2 or 4 wheel drive. I actually luike the smaller, LIGHTER machines. I you have to plank over cracks it is easier and if you get in trouble its easier to pull out.
Remember your not going to be going wide open, just take it easy and be safe about it and you'll be fie.

I Have a Artic cat 400 2wd and with the chains on it the thing will go just about anywhere .I followed my buddy with his big 650 4x4 everywhere he went and I never got stuck .But my 400 has a lot of ground clearance so that may make a difference if yours don't.
