View Full Version : Harness Swap for the LSC forum
Topshelf
01-24-2008, 06:18 PM
I noticed that on the Detroit River forum they are having a harness swap. Well as luck would have it I'm to late as usual, to get in on it.
So I'm going to throw it out on the Lake St. Clair Forum to see if anyone here is interested in doing the same here. I'm willing to be the guy who handles all the harness's and then ships them back out people unless someone else is either interested in helping me out with it over a beer or seven.
or
Either that or we could all just meet at a local watering hole on a good night for everyone and do it there?
Here's the rules that I stole from Andy Capps post, hope he doesnt mind?????.
General info:
13 individuals will make 13 harnesses. We already had a swap that was to be for your GO TO harness for where ever you fish. This year can maybe be your second favorite, or maybe something you are going to try? The harnesses will be sent to me and in return, you will get a dozen different harness back, one from each participant minus your own.
Rules:
ALL of these rules must be complied with.
1. All harnesses must be to me buy Feb 12th. There are no exceptions. If they are received late they will be marked RTS and you are out of the swap. Very simple, no exceptions
2. All harnesses must include $2 for return postage, Please don't send checks or M.O., just send cash, if someone wants it that bad.....
3. Please include a postcard, post it, printed label, or whatever with your address on it for your return envelope. In the past I have had a tough time reading some individuals writing.
4. All harnesses must be individually packed in something ( use a ziplock if you have too ) also include a tag in them with your screen name so individuals get to see who made what.
5.Lastly I may sound grumpy, but I am not. I have hosted quit a few swaps, and just stating what is the easiest way to make it go as smoothly as possible.
6. Got It? Good! Get tying!!
I will send a PM to all individuals with the address they need to be sent to as soon as the list gets full. Individuals can post a pick of there creation, or I will do it as I receive them. Good luck all! And thanks for participating

I did this last year and went pretty smooth. That reminds me, I need to get an order in for some more supplies. Would you be willing to push this off until the end of the month so we all have plenty of time to get beads etc? If not thats ok with me.

Count me in on this one. I kind of like the idea about meeting somewhere and swapping. I do understand however, busy schedules. If you don't mind (I don't think you will) I'll just tie my #1 go to. Whatever anyone decides I'm good.

I dont have a problem with bumping the due date back to say the 28th.
I'm out of town that whole last week of Feb for work so it doesnt matter to me.
As far as a meet day how about the first week of March on Tuesday or Wednesday? As far as a meeting place I was thinking like the Voyeger up in St. Clair or some other bar/grill in that area that can accomidate 13 guys/girls plus a few others in one area.
Give me your preferences and we will go with the majority rule on mailing or meeting?
Due date is now February 28th.

Looking good so far guys.
I lost/had borrowed forever my digital camera somehow so I can't take a picture of my go to harness but its basically 6 chrome and green beads with 2 hooks and quick change clevis, green blade, small swivel attachment
Looks like its going to be the voyager. Lets shoot for the first Tuesday night in March at like 7 pm? If there is a conflict with that we can somehow work it out.

Hey guys,
I have what i think are harness's. But i'm not quite sure (i dont know anything about them). They have the blades and colored beads but just one hook. Well 12 of them are like that, 2 of them have 3 hooks. Anyway i was just wondering if i could just join this swap but just let you guys have them? I got them in an old tackle box and i dont think i will ever use them. They are not anything special, but its something. So what do you think, want them?

Ice fishin Nut I dont really care what day we do it, I just thought during the week would be easier for everyone? Weekends for us day shifters are usually pretty busy. But I will leave it up to a majority vote. I cant do Saturday afternoons until from about 1pm - 5 pm. Sundays I shoot in a Trap league.
Quick reminder: 13 individuals will make 13 harnesses. Should be your GO TO harness for where ever you fish or maybe your second favorite, or maybe something you are going to try? Richmond Sportsman Club. I shoot the winter league. Its good practice, its fun being out at the club on Sundays with the guys and a good excuse to get out of the house.
I hate to admit this because it means I'm old, but I have two kids that shoot also. The youngest who is 16 shoots on the youth team and the oldest (19)is up at Michigan Tech, so his league shooting is on hold for three more years. The youngest is knocking on the door of beating my 22 average this year.:( Its only a matter of time now. I just bought him a used Remington 1100 Trap Tournament Grade before the league started. Ya like that huh???? I like using them, when the fish are in a neutral or negative mood, you can go slower, and the blade will still turn. I got mine at Janns netcraft, they are called Junebug blades. Here ya go http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/specialty-spinner-blades/320185.aspx
I bought size 1, 2, and 3, or 2, 3, and 4. Been a couple years since I got them. I bought 100 of each, and they have lasted me quite awile. The one you have is either a #2 or #3.

Great swap guys and thanks to Art for putting it together. There is definitely some stuff there that I'm anxious to try. Hey Slick, the one that I got from you had no blade on it, is that the one I'm supposed to use when I try to out fish you in you in the SCR? :p IFN, what's with the single Sturgeon hook on your harness? :p Yeap, Topshelf spilled his guts on the local Anchor Bay Perch spots so now I can burn a lot less fuel to get my fish this fall!!! I'm definitely waiting to try Eyes and Z's harness during the "so called" dead time during the fish fly hatch. To the other guys I didn't mention, great job and I'll keep quiet on your the new weapons you gave me! The only drawback of the swap was the white knuckle drive on the way back home in that white out. Hope everybody made it home with their vehicles intact. :)

Longliner: The weather was pretty crappy last night so I dont blame you much on bailing out. Its up to you what you want to do. It will be tough to have everyone mail theirs to you and then you mail one back to them.
Personally I would just wait until the next exchange????
I would not expect anyone to mail me anything, but I did say I would be there so if anyone wants their rig I would be more than happy to get it to them. I think I made the right call, I have a 2wd Dakota and it is terrible in the snow. Once again sorry I coulden't make it.

Tinmarine why do you think Ice fishing nut and myself are on this shift because fishing in the morning during the week is the cat *****, hardley anyone out there other than the old timers..
On a very RARE occasion, I've been able to get out during the week (VERY rare). It is nice and peaceful. Now that dad is retired, he'll be doing his fishing during the week and leaving me to deal with the mess of the weekends. Can't have everything I guess.

OK, I just deleted a few posts. If anybody feels the need to get personal, use the PM feature. Consider that a warning.
