Boy, I sure have some great neighbors and friends. Most of the fellas in my neighborhood here in Interlochen are hunting and fishing nuts. And since we live right in the middle of the best of it, and have been stomping these woods and swamps for ever, most of us REALLY know what we're doing.
When I mentioned that I had recieved a rare bear permit for the Baldwin BMU, a few of my buddies around here really started to pitch in. One friend loaned me his elk skidding rig, in the event that I need to extract a big bear from the swamp. Another fella who works at a cherry processing plant said that he'll get me an unlimited amount of waste cherry mash. The fella across the street dropped off about 300 lbs. of waste pie dough from the food processing plant where he works, and said that he can get that much each week if I need it. My neighbor who owns a bar told me that he'll save in buckets all the stuff that they empty out of the grease traps on the grills. He figures about a gallon per day! Already 8 men have volunteered to help muscle one out of the swamp in the event that I score in September.
Hunters and fishermen are a good sort of men. I am fortunate that the grace of GOD has allowed me to live where I can indulge my passion for hunting and fishing without having to travel more than a few minutes from home.
