I just wanted to send out a prayer request for our youngest son, Sawyer. He is just over 9 months old and is having a Renal lasix test tomorrow to test his kidney function. He has some cysts on both kidneys, with one kidney (right one) being smaller than normal (the doctor even thinks it may disappear).
We have known about his condition since my wife's first ultrasound. . .if we didn't know about the condition, he may have went through his entire life fine with just one kidney. . .it is a condition that happens 1/100,000 births and his is not genetic.
He is a wonderful kid and hopefully the test tomorrow will be very positive and his left kidney will be functioning at the optimum level. Just the fact that our little boy is having to go through the procedure and be 'put under' is what my wife is having a hard time dealing with. . .and it has me a little worried as well even if it is a "routine procedure"

I just wanted to pass along some GREAT NEWS from today and to thank everyone for the prayers and thoughts passed along to us. . .my wife thanks you as well.
Yes, today was harder on us than him. . .those catheters(sp?) are not fun.
The test went VERY WELL and did show that his right kidney is doing 14% of the work and the left is doing 86% of the work. . .and the left one looks great and no additional cysts. His growth rate is also at a great level as his height is at 50%, right where it has been. (severe renal cystic disease effects growth). We do have to continue to monitor with ultrasound every six months or so, but the doctor just wants to monitor the growth of them. I asked when we have to do this test again and he said NEVER!!
Sawyer has also been on a restricted diet and medicine three times a day to help with potassium levels. . .the blood test today showed that we NO LONGER HAVE TO GIVE THE MEDICINE AND NO RESTRICTED DIET. . .BANANAS HERE WE COME!!!!:)
We have had MANY people praying for him and I want to again thank you all, the news today could not have been more positive.
Oh yeah, and he can play all the contact sports he ever wants to play.;)

I have to agree with another writer. Sawyer you have some great parents. We have a saying in our house,"Family first." I sounds like you have the same saying. I know I can't say don't worry Mom and Dad because it just comes natural. I have a son that Mentally and Phyically handicap. He needed his spinal cord near his brainstem opened a little larger because it was pinching off his spinal cord. The Doctors caught it to late and it caused severe brain damage. This happened when he was 1 and now he's 9 and he need help doing everything. He don't walk, talk, stand and you have to force feed him because he don't like his head touched.
But the important thing I remind myself and my X (his mother) is he's still with us and theres alot of people that love him. God has a reason for everything and he'll never give you what he don't think you can't handle.
I'll pass the word to my church and we'll pray for the little guy. We'll also pray for you MOM and DAD.. May peace be with me.
