WALLEYE MIKE

Got this e-mail from Gary Towns (dnr supervisor).
Hay Mike....I wanted to make contact with you about a Sturgeon Angler Survey we are getting out...probably next week. As I was mentioning to you when we were fishing last summer - we were thinking about trying to find out how many people were actually fishing for sturgeon, how many fish were getting caught and released, harvested, etc. Well - Mike Thomas and I have developed a mail survey and will be sending it out soon....maybe as early as the end of next week. We have names and addresses of 459 people who picked up a sturgeon tag in 2006 and/or 2007. We will handle this like the Wildlife Division Bear and Deer Surveys - where they send out a letter, survey and stamped, self-addressed envelope. After 10 days - we will repeat this process for those we haven't gotten back.....and then it gets repeated one more time. It will save us lots of postage if lots of people fill it out and put it back in the mail as soon as they get it the first time. So - please spread the word to your sturgeon angler buds - watch for the Sturgeon Angler Survey from the Mich DNR in the mail, fill it out and send it in! They will be helping manage this unique and special fishery.
