Finally got rid of the camper. Actually, a tree fell down in our back yard and IT got rid of the camper. Flat as a pancake. Anyway, I have been entertaining the thought for a few years now of getting a larger boat. Looking from something that is trailerable, but still allows me to get out on the big pond. Probably looking somewhere in the 22-23' range. I would like something with a cabin so that I could take off for the weekend. Also, it may help my selling point to the other half as a fishing / camping machine!:D
After talking with a few folks who fish Lake St. Clair pretty regularly, they recommended looking at Trophy boats. Any opinions from you folks?
I've checked them out on the web and they seem pretty nice. They also seem pretty expensive. Are they worth the cash?
Any other boat makers that you would or could recommend?
Thanks for the input.

It'll handle BIG water just fine and has a cabing with head.
No fishing gear on it now but it could easily be rigged.
My dad has talked about using it as a "camper" too. You could just pull into a park and back it into a space and sleep in it.
It's still for sale too. ;)

Nymph,
After looking at several different walkarounds (Pro-Line, Sportcraft) I ordered my 1999 Trophy 2052 in January of 1999. After a 3 month wait Bayliner finally shipped her out and I had her in the water in time for the spring walleye run here in the Trenton Channel.
What would you like to know? I have had no problems to date. It has been the best boat that I have owned. Total LOA Length Overall is around 8'1" and she weighs 3500 pounds. A very well built boat.
She also has more cockpit room than most of the others in her class. No problem fishing 4 people (preferably me and three women).
I can tell you the things that have changed since 1999.
1. They increase the Fuel Capacity from 65 to 85 Gallons.
2. The boat is now available with a 1.7 liter MerCruiser Diesel. (YES, A DIESEL...) She is capable of a range of 435 miles and burns 4.4 gallons per hour at a cruising speed or 19 MPH. Her max speed is 31 MPH and burns around 5.8 GPH.
If I were going to buy another one I would definately buy her with the Diesel.
I have been meaning to scan one of the pictures I have of her and posting them on the Photo gallery.

I have a 1997 Model 2002 Tropy Walkaround Cuddy with a Merc 115hp Offshore. I am purchasing a new(bigger) boat today and will be selling mine. I have not even made up a flyer for it yet. I will gaurentee you will not find a better equipt boat in this size on the water.
Boat has:
2 Cannon Electric Mag10 Downriggers with rear rod holders/dual front rod holders/ retro-trieves, and ball buddies, + 12lb tru-trac balls.
2 RAM Aluminum Triple Rod Holders in Berts Tackle Tracks
6 rod holder Rocket Launcher system
Full Canvas(Bimini, Ensign Glass, Side and drop curtains.
50qt Igloo Marine Cooler with pad for extra seating
Raw Water Washdown System
Shorepower with 110v Outlets above and below deck.
Dual Batteries with switch
Dual onboard Battery charger integrated into shorepower-(constant charging whie at dock)
1997 Load-Rite Galvinized Roller Trailer with surge brakes
Benett Trim Tabs
Garmin fixed mount GPS w/ External Antenna
Raytheon 470 Dual Freqency Fishfinder
All electronics are mounted on RAM adjustable mounts.
Ship- to Shore Radio with external cockpit mounted speaker
new am/fm/cassette player
Dock/deck lighting
Full Coast gaurd pack(lifejackets, flares, etc)
Anchor
2 large fish boxes in the floor
There is probebly much more, but I have not spent the time yet to go through and right everything down. This boat is my baby. I've spent more time on it in the barn(oh yeah, always kept indoors) planning and installing stuff than I have fishing it. Has only been out twice this year. There is not one misdrilled hole or extra hole for anything in the entire boat. EVERY Screw, nut, bolt, everything is Stainless Steel. I planned on having this boat much longer than I have, and I did everything right when I did it. The Merc blows the Force models out of the water. This boat has been slept in 10 - 15 times. Sleeps 2 comfortably and 3 can squeeze in. This boat is turn Key, Just add rods and tackle( I probably have enough of that if you need we could negociate!) Boat cruises at 30MPH and tops out around 40. I have honestly never had a single problem with the boat since I've owned it. Handles rough water great. E-Mail me if your interested. I'm starting it out at $20,300, but will negociate.

We had an older trophy 23 footer. it was a good boat fished well, but If your looking at it as a part time camper I would forget the walk arounds The walkaround cuts your cabin space WAY WAY down. Also no porta pots. Even with the blue juice the smell is still there when you rock and roll. We found dock space cheaper than camp grounds, And the big bonus. No camp fire smells or sand.

Heavy,
Mine has more cabin space than you think.

Think how much more you have if the walk around was not there.
