View Full Version : LSCWA meeting conduct

With the beginning of a new year and a new (smaller) meeting hall we are asking for your attention during the general business portion of the meeting as well as the presentation portion of the meeting whether it be a video or a guest speaker.

There is plenty of time to BS prior to the 7:30pm call to order, during the break and after the adjournment.

Prior to joining the walleye club as a general member and now a board member I attended the meetings under the “open invitation” policy which is rare with many clubs. I came to these meetings as if it were a “meet and greet” to meet people I’ve communicated with from this site and talked to on the boat radio.

I now realize the frustration of trying to conduct a meeting/presentation over the chatter of an inattentive crowd.

We really don’t want to start the new meetings by “banging the gavel" or “calling someone out” and asking them to take it elsewhere.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Good post Curt!! I know how much we all can have some good laughs when we get together....we'll just have to try to do it before or after and let the meeting take place so others can hear!!;)

I usually get there by 7 pm.

Brent it is on the SW corner of Little Mack & 10 mile just south of the Walgreens.
Park in the rear and enter in the door closest to Little Mack.

See you all there.

Is there a cost for attending the meetings, if someone wants to see what goes on there? Might be a good enough idea just to get away from the daughters. And is the meeting tonight?

Our new meeting location will be the Lakeshore Knights of Columbus hall at 25003 Little Mack just South of 10 Mile Rd.

There is no cost to attend the meetings, there is an annual fee to join and that varies based on single, family or senior membership.
Please sign in at the door if you are a non member attending, this helps us track membership attendance and potential members.

By all means attend tonights meeting and put some names with the faces.
We usually all sit together.

Look for the quiet table. :shhh:

The meetings have been open to all interested fishermen since the club started in 1976.

Curt brings up a good point. It is best if everyone keeps the talking down while people are speaking or making their presentation. If the noise level is to high then how are the new guys going to find out what is being talked about?

I hope at the beginning of the meeting maybe a review of the ground rules would be helpful. If someone got up and loudly and clearly spelled out the expectations it might be a good reminder for all. Though I think respect should be shown for all speakers, it was kind of hard when the person speaking couldn't be heard clearly due to faulty equipment at the old hall or just a low speaking voice. Hopefully the sound system at the new hall will be less trouble.

I don't think I can make it tonight, but have fun.:fish:

You wont be disappointed with that jig bath Kevin! When your ready to paint some up let me know. Without it theres way to much paint and it doesn't cure correctly. I need to stop by jo-an's and get me some of those brushes. Sounds like a good project for me at work...
