Step #1
Launch boat.

Step #2
Listen to some sort of alarm going off whenever hitting 3000 r.p.m.'s , because thats as fast as we could go without alot of the lake coming into the boat.

Step #3
Get pissed off at alarm enough to say the heck with it... If the motor blows up, then it blows up.......... I came to fish dammit!

Step #4
Put up Bimini top to help with the freezing cold water that is soaking the boat and Scott.

Step#5
Get a lesson on handlining in the Delphine, with terrible conditions. Strike out.

Step #6
Make a jigging pass from the concrete tower to the middle of the ditch... strike out.

Step #7
Make a move to the Sturgon hole... cut it too close ( at least 1/2 mile North of the Peche) and proceed to destroy the prop and skag in 1.5 foot of water.

Step #8
Jig and handline around the Sturgon hole and strike out.

No fish, VERY dirty water, a big repair bill, and I'd do it again in a minute:dizzy:.

Never did see this Canadian member out there... I think his name is Snagmaster 5000 or something like that:lol:. We figured he was smarter then us and stayed in bed.

Sounds like a rough day, Matt. That's why I stick to the SCR, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been much different of a result.. Good thing is it's alot closer!! My buddy got 3 jigging the North Channel yesterday though...

Yeah, it sure was a fun day out there eh Matt?:dizzy: It wasn't a total loss though. It was nice to take a boat ride to some hot spots (there's fish there) and at least you got an intro and a handlining lesson. When April comes around, you'll be familiar with the feel of the technique and I'll have you flippin fish in the box. No doubt. That 35 degree water was a touch chilly wasn't it? The 3 foot white caps made the ride out memorable. I agree though, if I didn't have to work, I'd do it again tomorrow. In a heartbeat.

I can't belive you guys went out! If I had to launch and come from your side I would have stayed home. It was rocking and a rollin over there!:yikes: I was out, but came in around 10am. The hole was pretty clean when I was there, but I didn't even get a tap either. That sucks about the prop. Just happened to me too not long ago. From now on I'm going around the markers at the hole before cutting over.

It dirtied up fast then... could barely see the prop in the water by noon in the sturgeon hole. I new better about the shallow water in that area, but thought I was waaaayyyyy far enough out to avoid the rocks... 5 foot.... 5 foot.... 4.5 foot...... kling... bang .... $&^#*%*#(%$$ (that was me) 1 foot . Hit one more time after that with the prop nearly out of the water. STAY IN THE DITCH FOR AT LEAST A MILE BEFORE CUTTING OVER.

Man-you guys are tough! But like you said, do it again in a minute. I messed up my prop last time out of Erie Metro in November. I boxed it up and sent it and $45 off to Prop Doc (internet site)-cost me $8 to ship it. They did a good job fixing it.

Well sorry to hear that Matt that does suck that you damaged your boat, nothing could tick you off more.. I know I was pissed when I hit my prop twice last summer out of the Marine city launch and I had never hit my prop on anything for so many years.. Well like I told you if I can drag you away from Scott for a day or two this summer give me a shout you got my number.. Cya Slick

Well Matt, if it is any consolation, we were out there yesterday aswell. We launched at Bloosom, saw you and Scott's vehicles there. Got to the outlet of Millers and quickly turned around before we DIED. Went down to Alter, (there was enough water to launch) and proceeded to hit some Marina's along the river in Search of Perch, but Struck out........After no response to the phone message i left on your Cell, i figured you guys had a Bad day aswell. It never hurts to TRY, and it sure beats sitting home doing nothing. Sorry to hear about your Scag and Prop, you better get it fixed for when it matters in the Spring......

Just got the estimate: $3,200.00:yikes::yikes:

I guess I messed up a little more than just the prop and skag. Bearings, shafts, etc.

My oh my!:dizzy:

OUCH! Make sure to check with your insurance company. They covered most of my bill when I made a similar mistake.

I made the claim today. With a $250.00 deductible, I was still able to eat lunch:lol:! I just hope they cover the whole thing. And yes, I WILL be hot on the tail of the last ice-berg in the river this spring:D. On a lighter note, You should have heard the insurance ladies tone of voice, and comments when I told here the date of the incident. She confirmed what most of you guy's already know about me.... I'm :dizzy:!

Good to know, thanks Kevin......As much as they advertise their "Replacement Value" as a selling feature, you would think different from a BIG insurance company...
