What brings you out hunting ever year. the smell, the peace, or the big ole' buck grunting through the woods. After hunting for a few years I realize that the forest is as important to me as the hunt. Not the meat in the freezer but the beauty of the experience. Do you hunt to fill your freezer or is it that true passion. What draws you to the woods

For me it is the peace and quiet and the unknown. It is different every time you are out there. You never know what you might see and that is a big draw for me. Don't really care if I get anything no matter what I am hunting just love to be out there. I think the less pressure you put on yourself about filling a tag or a limit makes a hunt more enjoyable. I take a camera with me now when I hunt for thoes unexpected moments. It is also a great way to reflect back on life and clear ones mind. The family and friends you share it with is also a big part.

Like I said to .454 Casull when we were hunting this fall "I just feel better when I am up here hunting, isn't that funny" and he agreed. I find peace in the outdoors, time to reflect without human interrruption of phones and other distractions. I feel so much better after time there, a renewal of my lease on a different perspective from my usual everyday experience.:)

Last weekend I met a couple buddies of mine out on the lake. It was the last day of duck hunting, but I ended up not even hunting. I anchored my boat and we talked and hung out while two other hunters were in the layout boats. I helped them pick up their dekes and that was my day. Had just as much fun as if I would have limited out.
Can't explain it, but that is why I like hunting, I just like being "out there."
