Delphine Channel runs out from the old Dodge Estate, roughly at the end of Fisher Road which is the dividing line between Grosse Pointe City and Grosse Pointe Farrms. It is next to the Grosse Pointe Club, also known as the Little Club, not the GP Yacht club which is further north at the foot of 8 mile road in GP Shores. It got it's name from the ocean going yacht the Dodge Brothers moored outside their estate. The channel was dreged to get the ship out to the main shipping channel. I caught my biggest walleye ever, 10lb.+ in that channel 40+ years ago. Glad to hear it is still producing. :)

My mistake. I only know how to get there by water. And as far as the landmarks... well, they're just in the backyard. Don't know what they're called. I'm just learning all the American lingo. In Canada, we just call it the American Channel.:dizzy: But I'll be there tonite.

Well????? Did ya go last night??? How did ya do???

That amazes me, according to the map, the deepest part of the channel is 21 feet......:yikes: I'm used to fishing in anywhere from 30 to 85 feet. Maybe I need to come down there and try fishing that shallow water you guys do so well in. Sure would be easier on my wrists, not having to reel so much line in!!!:D

Sorry guys! I tried to post last night, but the site was down for some reason.:( I fished for 3 hours all over by the Delphine. Caught zero. Swung back accross to my side to hit the Sturgeon Hole, caught zero. Water was nice and clean in both spots last night, 37 degrees. Washed about 25 different lures. Went back to see if the morning bite would be on but it wasn't. Fished from 7am till almost 10, caught zero. 3 other boat at the hole, one guy jigging, didn't see or hear of anyone catching anything. The one boat shot over from the US side only hung around an hour and he was outa there. It was still clean enough to fish this morning, but winds have kicked up considerably since last night. Oh well. It's the middle of January and I've been fishing on the boat 3 days in the last week. Fish would have just been a bonus.

I am sooooo ready to get out. It's Tuesday for me for sure down to Bolles, rain, shine, snow, wind, muddy water, whatever. Between the holidays, a cold, a foot of snow, melting ice, no ice, except for some nighttime casting at the mouth of the Clinton, and managing to get in a lot of miles on my bike lately, I'm sick of looking at these 4 walls.
