just wondering if anyone out there would like to see a sub forum for N.L.P,and U.P. hunters? alot of the forums are dominated by S.L.P hunters and it seems difficult to hear about more local hunts. does anyone agree, or thinks this idea deserves merit?

Maybe when you start a thread you can put in the subject "Northerner replies only" That way you wouldn't have to wade through any replies by any insert name here (Trolls, flatlanders, citiots, farmers).
Where exactly is Michigan's rendition of the Mason Dixon line where suddenly the men become real men and the hunting is real hunting. The 45th paralell, M55, US10 or ...............?

The thread subject turned it into that. Where in the world in the guidelines on Michigan Sportsmans Forums does it promote SLP hunter domination?
I think it would be neat to have regional categories, for region specific discussions. But the way it the OP brought it up suggests having a problem with SLP hunters.

Of course it doesn't. It's just a result of sheer numbers due to population distribution. I for one enjoy hearing of Flatlanders' experiences hunting, fishing and camping up here - we can all learn from each other. I didn't perceive an antagonistic tone from the original post
I also support the notion of regional sub forums. The Yoopersportsman site is ok, but activity seems pretty low - I learn a lot more here at MS.
Have a great weekend, hopefully somewhere outdoors!

Sorry for taking it the wrong way. I do like the idea of regional related sub forums. Just not fond of pitting one against another.

We already have one for Cheboygan/ Presque Isle, wish more people would post on it.

I would like to hear from hunters in our area also. I think there is a big difference in hunting the NLP than southern MI; ie: habitat, deer population and so forth.

Seems like a constructive idea to me. Being a U.P. resident, I promise I won't make any "below the bridge" sarcastic comments!
On a serious note. There are plenty of genuine sportsmen from the lower that enjoy the U.P. and I respect them. Sometimes folks local to the U.P. see things different and may be more directly impacted by certain issues...like wolves for example. Maybe by sharing information back-and-forth we can reach a better understanding.
Anyhow...hat's off to you for brining it up.

Am I misunderstanding you Rooster? Or is that not exactly the reason that we shouldn't regionalize the forums?

Honest I don't think it will serve much of a purpose. I mean how different of topics could there be that would justify and entirely new section? The game is the same, climate is close to same, terrain is similar, the only substantial difference between the "north" and "south" that I know of is the availability of high speed internet. :D

the reason for the post is the shear numbers of residents in the s.l.p. and members on this site. It makes it difficult for people searching for specific topics that apply to northern Q@A. I enjoy hearing storys and opinions from all over the state, but I believe this would be a helpful tool for residents and outdoorsmen from all over to state to benefit from. From vacations to hunting trips and possible land purchase.

Jcran750,
I'm not sure what you mean. Let me just ramble a little and maybe I can better explain my comments.
I really like this site because it provides viewpoints from all over the state. If individuals from around the state have questions about things in the U.P. it seems a U.P. forum would be the place to discuss it. Although, admittedly there are other forums on the site to communicate through. Basically, I'm just trying to keep an open mind and show consideration for the individual who cared enough to post the question.

WHEW! My Farm boundary is on the NORTH side of US 10.. or is that the WRONG side to live on here??
Whats the difference? the guys from downstate all drive to the NLP or U.P. to hunt anyway, so its all about the same..

I see no need for it and only see it causing problems. The Cheboygan/ Presque Isle forum will likely be closed due to lack of activity.
