While walking through the local Wal-Mart, I saw an acquaintance of mine. He asked if I got my permit. I told him no, and neither did my son or dad. He said that between his family and his neighbor's families, they got 5 permits out of 6 applicants. When he mentioned the names, I know of at least one of the permit holders is not a hunter. I'm sure she will be letting her husband use it (the only one out of the 6 who didn't receive a permit). We all know that using another's tag is illegal. But, the chances of getting caught is soooo remote that it is worth the gamble for some. This kind of crap has become an epidemic. As I see it, the only way to stop this abuse, is by peer pressure. What do you think?

Thats a good point trout, I mean come on are these people really that hard up for meat that they need to play these games? There are probably some who are, but I suspect for most of them it is just greed, and a sense that they will not be caught.

Keith,
At least with our new system they should not draw next year and maybe some of us unlucky guys will get a chance. I like this preference point system I wish they would do that for elk also.

Alot of the guys here do the same thing. It irritates me too since I am a women and do hunt and did not get a tag either. People put in their kids, wives, mothers, who ever to increase the chances of drawing a tag. With the way society is with little regard for what is right or wrong I do not see things changing much. I have learned that saying something dosn't help either, I am very verbal and not afraid to step on a toe or two when it comes to wrong doings all its gotten me is talked about. Try to look on the bright side you have one prefernce point and are on your way of getting that tag in the future.

>It seems recently here in the U.P. people are getting caught quite frequently in the past few years for hunting with another persons license and they do pay a large fine along with the person who is the license holder. So this is not a good method for hunting bear in Michigan.Every year i talk to the local CO here and he tells me of some of the stupid stuff people are trying to get away with.Look at this way if they get caught they will not be hunting bear for a long time.

I also don't like the people that do this..I hope they all get caught..they must be selling the meat to friends afterwards..BAD DEAL..when you hear this it should be said not to do it. sometimes the little words can help..we can keep trying
Happy shooting

If it really bothers you call the RAP line and report them, will give the CO's a place to look once season starts.
if's free/it's unanimous/it helps

The RAP line is one option, but lets face it there are only so many CO's to go around! While they are checking on one problem, 100's of other violations are going on someplace else. I think the most effective way is to show your disapproval and get others to agree. There will always be habitual violators that the CO's should spend their time on. It is the folks that don't think it is wrong or grew up in the type of environment that condones this behavior that need to be changed.
