Got a electric knife for xmas.Caught one(1) perch to try it on. (isn't that pathetic?). Could not believe my skill or luck, but that perch came out PERFECT. Hope any perch caught in the future turn out as well. And the Walleye, and the Bluegill, and the White Fish, and the Salmon, and the Steelies. Boy, that knife is sure taking a beating.:lol::lol:

The thing I learned right away is to let the knife do the work. Dont force it. Even on the frozen fish they do well. I have a cheap one and have been very pleased even with that. But I still tend to use the manual knife to clean the belly part. My sister bought me a nice set of angler's knives from BPS for Christmas and cant wait to use those too. I do know some guys who can fillet faster with a classic fillet knife than an electric. That would make a cool contest to see who can fillet the fastest.

Where I was employed we worked on a piece work basis. To work faster, we handled each part as little as possible. The less you handled the part, the more parts you made, the more parts you made, the more money you made. So, using that scenerio it would be interesting to have person who is good with a fillet knife go against a guy with an electric. A fillet knife might be slower, but you don't have to cut out the rib cage bones.(at least I don't) An electric is faster, but you have to handle the fillet again to cut out the rib bones. Using a perch as an example, it would be interresting, from start to finish, which procedure is actually faster. Larger fish would not come into play in this test because there are not that many to clean so time is not a factor. Very interesting, what do you guys think?

I just bought the Mister Twister knife and love it. I think it's faster. But you waste a little more than you would doing it by hand.
