RJT, Scubajay and I launched out of St. Clair last night made a run down to MC power plant and started jigging. Water was filthy (visibility a couple of inches), so we made one pass and decided to head back upstream and handline. That was just as unsuccessful, so we pulled in the gear and made a long cold run up to PH/Sarnia. We found some clean water and only ended up with one walleye for the night. All in all, it was great company and nice to be out for Ryan's bday in January.

Exactly! It was frustrating because the fish are there, but nice to get back out.

Yes, we saw what looked like an entire tree. Looked to be from a distance 30' or so with branches well out of the water.
The good part is your out fishing, who wouldn't want to be part of that. The bad part is all that crap floating down from the thaw, you never know whats coming at ya!!!
Slick fishing

Hey guys Ryan called me and told me you were going out last night but I never called him at the end of my shift to see how you all did, sorry you did not catch more but you know how that goes this time of year.. I never even thought about the hazzards floating in the river this time of year, be carefull guys.. Cya Slick
Water temps were 37 degrees in the river and 45 near the power plant. We did mark plenty of fish in the 28 - 30 ft range. The visibility was less than 6 inches in Marine City. Once we motored up north the Pine and Black Rivers were not affecting the clarity, visibility was 2 - 3 ft. We did see a full size tree floating down the river, which was to be expected. As Rick stated debris was floating everywere. We played it safe and only put the throttle down half way while running.
There was a freighter docked south of Sarnia that amazed us. The ass end was squated down and the bow was completely out of the water.
It was a good night with exceptional company. Fishing in January from a boat does not come by very often. I am sure the fish have lock jaw and it was pure luck that we boated one. A successful trip in my eyes, I would do it again in a heart beat.
Thanks for comign along Jay and Rick.

If we don't get anymore rain it should clear up quick.. It seems even when it rains, the SCR clears up quickly.. My .02 anyways..

Shes not going to clean up real good till the black river subsides on her flows of muddy water.Shes flowing pretty hard right now.I took a ride at the north end of PH today and shes still overflowing out the canal into the lake. The vis in the upper river here is inches.Another rain storm is predicted to move in tonight with 1/4-1/2 inch of rain likely.Shes probaly going to rise some more if that happens.I know theres fish in there but the waters just too muddy.
