I am planning on doing a Boar Hunt for my Bachelor party this coming spring. Does anyone know of a ranch near the thumb where my buddies and I can have a good time at a reasonable price. I haven't done much research on ranches yet, thought I would check here to get some ideas.

There is one in cheasening that has 800 acres I heard does a good job. Like 400-450 for a two day hunt with overnight stay and food. Not bad of price compared to some of the one day hunts out there...

Dont know if you have checked this source yet, but if not, try picking up a copy of Woods-n-Water News. There are very many hunting ranches that advertise in this magazine, and they usually list their web sites and all have a PH# Listed. I found it to be a great resource for locating hunting ranches in Michigan. You can usually find it in party stores, meijer gas stations carry them, as well as Gander Mt. I have been to County line Ranch in Beaverton, and that was ok. I am planning another trip for Feb of this year, but havent picked the place just yet, I am still doing some research as to which one.

Ill for sure let you know how we do. Its funny you bring up the camera man thing, As far as I know there is 4-5 of us going and we are trying to figure out how to pair everyone up for it. We are going to be doing a stalk type hunt, and I will be using a crossbow with the i think the others using a bow and one using a revolver. So it should be interesting, but should I get some good vid I will definately post it up

One of my buddies was just telling me that he knows a fella near Deford and he thought his name was pig man, that sells hunts for like 250. He was going to find out the guys number and give him a call, I'll keep everyone posted.

I took a nice russian boar at trophy ranch in ubly years back. Took it with a bow and had it mounted. Down the road from trophy ranch is another place that his brother owns. I believe it was called the rooster ranch. Great pheasant hunting along with stocked trout ponds. Good times.........

Anybody ever hunt at Bear Mountain Quest?

This operation is located in the UP. It's kind of expensive at just over $1000 and up, compared to many other operations. I'm wondering what all the extra cost gets you.

A guy on another board recently took this boar there, that weighed in at 480lbs :yikes::

I think there is a local place in Sandusky where you can get hogs. It is a little place called Boots Ranch. I here they have a pretty good variety of hogs for cheap prices!!!!!

It's funny you mention the Boots Ranch Junior Tanker. I thought about those hogs for the party but it's really no fun when you've been there and done that. Maybe you didn't hear, Boots Ranch has sold all of their hogs and moved on to cattle, big ass heffers.

I spoke with them at the Grand Rapids show and for a Russian up to 200lbs the hunt is $350.. Full Curl Rams are only $400.. and cheaper for 1/2 or 3/4 curl rams.. They are out of Hesperia, MI. Said if you needed an overnight hunt that would be on the house for a group of 6 or more..

I am going to run a hunt with him in March or April if anyone wants to join me...

Wow, that seems like a good deal, actually the best deal i've heard yet. What about pigs that are a little bigger, how much more do they charge. I plan on whacking one of these bad boys to feed a group of 25-30 drunken and hungry men. I think I better have some hot dogs for backup. Thanks for the info!!

But He mentioned $25 for every 50 lbs after and said he even has one that is like 700Lbs.. Hogzilla.. Might want to ask him abot that many guys though... I think as long as half hunt one day and half the next you should be good!

I'm not going to take all of those guys with me, just like five or six and we're going to roast the pig the next day for everyone to munch on.

Ahhhhh Yes!!!!!

Boots ranch in Sandusky does have some quality animals if you are looking for weight. I would not mount any of them though. Punn strongly intended....

Striking out on the hog hunt stinky. Cannot get a hold of Wild streak ranch. I wonder if he is still around, we might have to take a road trip over there.

I hunted one of these 250 dollar special hog hunts in Deford area.......Would not recommend it to anyone......hunt quality was very low....he only had 40 acres.....and his pigs are not wild hogs......basically farm hogs........the pork was great....and the price was not to bad if ya are just looking to put pork in the freezer......but its just basically killin a pig in a pen.....so if your in it for fun beware of the "deals"

Well, Lil Tanker helped me book a Hunt with Hillbilly Huntin Hogs Heavin -something like that. Anyways, $195 pretty sure it's the 40 acre pen, but was looking for something cheap that we can eat that weekend. SOunds like fun, shoot a pig, drink till we fall over and do it all over again. Thanks for everyone's help.

i took my son to hillbillyhogheaven 195$ for meat hogs. it is a small place but if you're looking for meat for the freezer they cant be beat. the owners are really good guys my son had a blast. i took a really nice hog and a silver medal jacobs ram just a few inches shy of being gold medal. my son took a huge meat hog, they have farm hogs / meat hogs but they also have russian hogs and razorbacks along with some beautiful rams. this is a small place but i cannot find a place anywhere in michigan that comes close to there prices. 375$ for rams 275$ for razorbacks and i think it was 425$ for russians. whith the econemy the way it is in michigan and not knowing if you going to have a job 6 months from now i'll save some money anyway i can.

I recenty used "Heritage Trophy Hunts" in Lupton, MI and Harvey Haney really took care of my dad and I. I gave my dad a unique birthday gift to bag a trophy rack and he was tickled pink. THeir prices are very reasonable (I shopped around) with lots of whitetail, elk and even some Russian boar. It was like a one-stop-shop for trophy hunting and we didn't even need a license. We had an awesome time and some great father / son bonding that weekend. You should definitely check them out!!!
