Wild Card Weekend on Burt Lake

Picked up about a dozen Jumbo Perch a 18" Eye and my first Brown Trout thru the ice.
Friday morning I sat right down at the same two holes and was into fish the second I wet my line. Had 20+ Jumbos and 2 keeper Eyes by 10:00. Two of the Perch were near 14"

Late morning I picked up a couple more Eyes and a few more of those great Perch. Sunday the crowds were gone and the Walleyes got hungrier, I left with four dandies and lost 2 at the hole. I think next year I probably won't see much wild card football either.

all the fish were caught in 17-22' of water on jigging shad raps and a dead rod and please excuse my jumbled up post, I'm just learning to insert images and as you can see I need some practice.

8" where I was. The snow all turned to slush with alot of water on the ice.

Nice catch, I'm heading to Black lake and Mullet from the 18th to the 21st. The Ice should be good again by then. Nice report for sure. Did you hear anything from Mullet or Black?

I didn't hear anything about Black or Mullet. When I arrived on Thurs. I did see a couple guys setting up on Mullet right close to shore. I would guess that ice was poor then and maybe gone now. The best shad raps for me were the blue and glow in dark. I also caught some on a white do-jigger.

Nice job on the catch. You were fishing in my back yard. My fishing buddy, and my son were out there on the same days. Did not do as good as you did.

Were you out in the crowd in the north arm? We could not make ourselves follow the crowd. I counted the portables out there on Sat. At 10:00 there were 46 portables. No wonder the bite slowed down.

Due to other committments on Sun, did not make it out. Sounds like I missed a good day:mad:

Harry, I also can't go near the crowds. I've never seen that many people out there as I did on Saturday. I was South of the crowds.

Very nicely done Skunk. I heard from a source that the North end was doing decent on perch Friday, but slowed down considerably Sat and Sun. There were about a dozen guys out in the rain on Monday, so fishing must have been good. Tight Lines.

H Harry I was out by the group Fri afternoon And went up to an purple otter shack thinking it was you/but it was'nt. What color is yours and are you pulling it with the quad or the sled. Fishing was fair on fri Went to the west shore on Sat and picked up a limit of eyes. Sun I could of sat in my Clam and paddled it around. NO FISH

Thanks for the reply skunk. I think the amount of people on the lake is a result of Mullett Lake being unfishable, and our economic conditions up here is so bad, that everyone that would have normaly been working is out of work.

Went out and checked the ice today at 2:00 PM. Some minor open water at the shore on the landing off of Roberts Rd. Looks like a snowmobile will be ok on the ice. I seen three snowmobiles, two portables and one ATV on the ice while I was there, but only one vehicle on the landing. I assume the machines were coming off of the landing at Hoppes Bar.

Hey Sportsman. I seen your truck out there on Fri. You made a late day of it. I was in the barn when you headed out.

My Otter is purple, and I pull it with the sled. Took out the portable last year with the ATV. Never again. What a mess with the slush. Got a forest green, 97, Ski-do Grand Touring. Studded. Does a nice job of pulling. Will usually pull the big shack with no problem.

How deep were the eyes on the West shore? What were you feeding them? I haven' got an eye yet this year:mad:

Sportsman.. yea I was with a couple buddies that I've been fishing with for years. Iwas in town for 4 days, my boss has a place up there so it's a free place to stay.
I'm surprised that they're still driving on that ice the way the weather was when I left.

I spoke with a friend today who checked the ice at Scott's landing. He said much of the shoreline ice was eroded in that area. He also saw a crew of guys come in from the center of the lake after retrieving their atv that went through last night. Be careful out there guys.
