I was out last night for a few hours, thinking it would be my last chance for a few days now. The weather today seems to be forecasted warmer then anticipated, with a high of 62 and tomorrow 57, both days expecting rain. This all will add up to crappy ice.
The foot of snow that was on the ground has already vanished. There was around 5-6" of ice in fenton yesterday, but with rain and very warm temps I don't think it will make it.

We're looking at the worst possible scenario, esp. on Tuesday with warmth, rain and wind.
Now that almost all the snow/slush is gonna this will create havoc for what ice will be remaining after today. All we can do is hope that the weather reports are wrong as its not supposed to get cold enough to repair much of the damage done in the next week!

I originally thought this warm up would help our ice over here in the GR area, we had about 4-5 inches of good, clear ice with about 6-8 inches of slush/snow on top. I figured this would clear up the slush/snow and freeze us back up, but it's pretty damn warm out there! We're gonna have to have a good couple of nights of teens to lock us back up where I'm comfortable.
(But hey, already been out 4 times, didn't have safe ice until Feb 1st last year!)

highs in the 20s, lows in the teens by next week it looks like... all is not lost.
plus... all the snow and ice hasn't melted from my yard yet so there is some hope.

Kiss it good bye! They are talking about 1/2" of rain tomorrow along with upper 50's. It looks like we will be starting fresh again....

Just came across Hardy Dam. Sure wouldn't want to be on Hardy pond today without a GPS or enough sting to reach back to the truck. Could hardly see the gate house on the upstream side of the dam.

The Shore Lines Are Going Fast.
Any Remaining Ice Will Be Soft & Sponggy. The Kind That You May Be Able To Walk On & & Your Heel Sinks In. Then ,not Only Your Hell But Your Whole Body Goes Thru. :yikes:
Be Carefull
I Believe It'll Be Another Week & A Half To 2 Weeks

Outta business for maybe a week, no more. The ice is not gonna all melt in 2 days of warm rain, it doesn't do that even in springtime.

I think the main problems will be the shorelines, the shallow water will warm quickly with this rain. So it may take a little while to refreeze.

Dont be foolish and try going out on the ice under these conditions. Its not going to hold up under these conditions.
