Ya I moved up here in July and love it. it is nice up here... I was loving it my first time out.... I am starting to think I just got lucky though there are some big perch in Crooked but I put a lot of time in this weekend (all day Sat and Sun) and all but a couple were questionable keepers 7-8" I don't really like to keep em under 9" but after fishin all day I like a nice perch dinner :D

nice fish, it's nice to see some reward for putting in the hours on the ice. I have nothing to show for my ice time this year!!

Nice fish! I may be willing to take you to some other spots next time I come up. My folks live on the Mini... so I'm always in that area when I'm up there. Get with me through private messages.

I was out on Burt this past friday. 6" of good blue ice, but it's going fast.
Fishing was great. Slab perch and a couple rainbows, pics attached.
The biggest of the perch were 14".

Welcome to the site and also my neck of the woods C20chris.
Thanks for the reports guys.
Conditions have deteriorated rapidly in the last three days. I was out as recently as Sunday night, but after todays rains and high temps I am done fishing this area until conditions change.
I think I may be headin' north this weekend. :evilsmile

I was out on Crooked two weekends ago near the access closest to the Minehaha...ice was anywhere from 8 - 10 inches with almost a foot of snow on top. I was planning on heading back up on Friday to get some more fishing in, but with all of this rain who knows if it will firm back up by Saturday...hopefully the rain melts all of the snow and it all freezes back up quickly....

I just drove around crooked (didn't actually get out and check the ice) the only open water that I saw was in the bigger inlets/outlets the permanent shanties are still atop the ice...or floating if it gets back below freezing like its supposed to tonight and tomorrow night it should be good for the weekend but we will have to wait and see.... darn rain:rant:
