As long as they are not on the same Sunday's as the Hawg Hunters I'd be interested in hitting a few lakes up that way. $50 entry (indlucing big bass) seems to be the limit for many weekend anglers.

My other fishing partner got a boat at the end of the year so he could probably get Luke to fish a couple with him and dad and i could partner up...so there is two possible teams.

First I've heard of it. Ran into Roger at Al and Bob's recently and he seemed to indicate there would be a schedule.
But maybe not eh?
Oh well, maybe your's could take the place of it. Roger did tell me that if I (or maybe that should be "we") wanted to do one on Ryerson (which has a public ramp but no parking) we could use his front yard (he lives across from the ramp) as long as we put $5 a boat in his minnow fund box at the ramp. He and some others on the lake regularly plant minnows in the lake as forage for the bass. His yard is good for about 7-8 rigs... plus Msunolimit's place up the lake is good for another 3 or 4 rigs. After the way that lake fished last year I think I, we, or somebody should take him up on this offer.

I'd be willing to try and donate some beer money on Sundays. I didn't mind fishing some of Roger's tourneys last summer but it seemed like some of the lakes weren't the greatest picks.

Yeah, a couple of the lakes were really slow... brooks and tamarack come to mind. But the year before those two lakes had big sacks turned in.

Jason, Luke larson, gary's old partner. he and i went to school together and have been friends for years. My dad had surgery last summer on his shoulder so he couldn't fish with me so thats why i fished with my friend lance most of the summer. lance bought a boat and i think dad is healed so we are going to see if luke wants to fish with lance unless he is already fishing with someone or if his new woman doesn't let him out of the house!!
I think I'm still wet from fishing Brooks last year...that was a crappy wet day, and the only weighable fish I caught threw me right at the boat.
My folks live on kimball, that and pickeral are great fishing..but the launch is so small and there is alot of car there on the weekends, they(mom and dad) have a lot of room to park behind their house..but that would mean people would have to launch and drive back over to westside of kimball then we would have to take off from there.
Alot of room at fremont, croton, hardy, brooks
what about hess, robinson, bills?

Hess? You mean Sess? I don't fish there!! Nasty nasty lake.
Yeah, Justin and I got wet at Brooks too. And we may have made some money if Hans and Frans hadn't caught their 5th keeper right at the ramp, right in front of me, with less than 2 mnutes to go!! That sucked!!!
I'm sorry to say this, but I'm having trouble placing just who you are bailipanga. What boat were you fishing out of?

No problem, My name is Scott Clarke, I was in the green nitro, not the one roger's partner has, but my dad's boat which is identical. We fished Brooks, Fremont, and White and we also fished in a couple of kellogsville. Dad and I fished the bbt memorial out of the same boat. I fished with Justin at townline on a monday nighter out of his boat once last year. I live over in Shepherd, but grew up in Newaygo..so I'm always on the west side during the weekends.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Newaygo county tournaments. There are plenty of good bodies of water to fish. Many of them can support 10 - 20 boats without too much hassle. I like fishing the bigger waters like the Grand and Muskegon but there is alot to be said about fishing the smaller waters like Fremont, Brooks and even McLaren up in Hesperia. I'm sure Jason and Mike wouldn't mind going back to the Freak this summer. Like you said Mike, I'd much rather spend $35 - $50 per boat as to $100 per boat. Sure the payouts are better at the bigger events but at the smaller ones it's easier to actually meet the people you're fishing against. In the end I think it's more about meeting new people you can b. s. with.

And everyone knows I LOVE to B.S.!!

Don't we all like to B.S. Yeah I like the shorter drives...since I already have to drive an hour just to get to newaygo. I really like fishing the BBT but after two seasons for $100 entries(and not placing in the money, got a couple of $500 hats though) it started hurting the pocket book a bit...after I get more experience under my belt then I will probably go back to fishing the bbt again or shoreline since you can't run during theirs. So the $35 or $50 tourney's appeal to me right now even though the paybacks are smaller...I'm not trying to make money just looking to have fun and learn to be a better bass fisherman..and if I make some money in the process then makes it just that much more fun.

If I get more guys I will put a schedual out. As far as pay back it will be better than what you could win in a NBAA tournament with a $100.00 entry. The entry will be $50.00 plus $10.00 bb. 100% pay back unless guys want to hold some out for an end of the year shot out.

Jay, I'm game. But you know that. Shoot outs can be fun too.

J,
Stick with the 100% at the ramp and no membership, I think you'll get more boats.

Maybe we will do something a little differant this year for a couple of the tournaments.
We should have a couple tournaments that all you can use is a sertain style of bait ie (JIG) or (Crank Bait) or no nets.

01-10-2008, 12:06 AM
Well then I would ask you make this known before the event so those of us not so proficient at jig fishing can just give you our money at the dock! LOL!!! I need to learn how to fish the jig though, that's for sure.

NO NETS!!
Real man's fishing, right there. No messing around, just haul his ass in!!!
I fished w/out a net for nearly 10 yrs(and I'm really a pike fisherman:shhh:). Almost 10 years back I forgot to pack a net for my annual Canada pike/laker fishing trip, so we fished w/out one, lost no fish (outta like 200;)) due to lack of net, and I kept fishing w/out one until I got into catfishing. Net handy landing 15# flats.
But as for a JIG-A-THON w/ Ammerman, well only if the next one is spinnerbaits!
Maybe each angler could pick 1 bait to use whole time, 1 bait/1 rod.
Or a bait-versus tourney, senko vs. jig!
Or everyone fishes w/ a big shiner & a circle hook, and we'll find the biggest bass in lake for sure! $50 Big Bass Pot!:lol::yikes::evilsmile

I'd join in but at well over 100 miles round trip, I gotta pass. Now if someone wants to get a tourny going south of town....I'm in!
Heck if you guys have one at Diamond lake, I just might have to make the trip!

No ChamioNs, that's fine, I've been doing pretty well out of the old Sea Nymph lately, caught a couple eaters on Hardy last night. Might have to put the 25hp back on it for tournaments though, the 9hp won't keep up with that mud buddy!!

I got the email today from Randy about Wabs. Hope to find a new partner for this summer so you'll most likely see me there again this year.

Shheeeesh, next thing ya know it'll be the Zebco 101 tourny.
Everybody uses, a 10$ Zebco rod and reel combo (receipt required), and the cheap 1$ spinner baits from Walmart. No gas in boat, drift only.
Hey, wait.... I would have an advantage then wouldn't I !!!

J,
Here's an idea, two Hardy tournaments, one for LM only, the other for SM only?

It dose not sound like there are too many guys that want to fish a newaygo area tournament, I think it is going to be scraped. I would like to see at least 12 to 15 boats, I will put together some lakes and dates and see how many guys will go for it. MORE TO COME!
