Fished near the day sail with mike the elder (AKA dad) in ~3 FOW. I was out further than most people from 8-12pm. I caught 36 dinks(7'' or smaller). My elder caught 39 dinks. The water was still dirty . The ice was 6'' where I fished. Waxworms seemed to work the best. Got a few hits on minnows. Gold or purple jigs.

Since I still have fish in the freezer, 7 inch perch are dinks. Waiting for the big ice or a trip 'up Nort'.

I was out in the metro beach area and had no problem getting some big ones once again . Went to the same place I have been going the last couple weeks . Got some dinks but alot of big perch and gills . Really have to finess them when your fishin the canals .

Where are these canals at Metro? If you mean the ones off the Black River(that's what I call the main canal to the lake:confused:) are they safe for foot traffic?

I fished a canal today also. I actually saw Gone Fishing walk by my shanty but i was busy catching fish and just couldn;t get my self to put down the rod and go say hi.

My cousin and i caught a ton of fish today but not much to show for it. Lots of perch some bluegill 10 rock bass and 2 largemouths. Only brought home 15 perch and 4 gills. But after i got home i regreted keeping them. When you pull 5 incher after 5 incher and then a 7 incher pops up threw the hole it looks much larger than they actually are!:lol: Oh well i had a fun day at caught a bunch of fish. Every hole i drilled today was absolutly full of fish according to the Vexilar but they sure were reluctant to bite!

I went off the day sail at first light. I cought three really nice perch along with a dozen dinks or so. Lot's of people fishing this morning.

Fished a metro canal yesteray morning and caught nothing but dinks. Then went to the beach area around 10ish - 3:00 and caught 40-50 perch. Kept about 15 and one nice gill. Lots of small fish but better than catching none!!!! Fished in about 4 ft. visability was about 1 ft.

Yea i didnt have much trouble finding good fish.... i was off the sail ... but i dont use bait just a jig and beeds so ..

I hear what some of you guys are sayin. It's tough to go out ice fishin every weekend only to catch dinks all the time. But......It's those days when you catch a bucket of JUMBOS that makes you wanna keep coming back for more.

Id' rather be on the ice than at work.....even if I am catchin dinks. I always say better luck next time.

I remember that pic! Those sure are nice to catch when it's one after another, all day long!:SHOCKED: I sure hope this year will be a repeat of last, once it finally does ice up good.:corkysm55
