Hi guys I want to know what you wear for your layering of hunting clothes? I'm thinking about a really good fleece outfit, I will spend up to $250 and for a base layer maybe of under armor or something like that. That should keep me warm. I don't know what fleece to get or what base layer to get?:dizzy: so many names and different stuff on the market I'm going crazy on what to order. Kinda looking for stuff that will cover cool to cold hunting. Thanks from Big Mike;)

The UA base layer is a good choice. I have it and love it. I would also suggest that you get a windproof/water proof outer layer and then add and remove layers under that as temps dictate.

There is a thread on here recently that went pretty long and cover this in pretty good detail. A little searching might uncover it...

Start out with capilene long underwear and long sleeve shirt as a base layer, and then add multiple layers of fleece top and bottom as needed. Fleece vests allow you too add warmth to your core without overly bulking up and restricting your arms.... and then you'll need a windproof shell top and bottom and you'll be toastie. I use up to five fleece layers on top.

I use UnderArmour cold gear for a baselayer, topped with polartec fleece 200 pants and vest, with a fleece camo jacket outerlayer and regular camo pants. The middle polartec 200 fleece layer was the ticket I believe. I hunted straight through December during the late archery season in Northern MI.

I for one hate feeling bulky when hunting or fishing so prefer many thin layers over big thick ones. I received the UA for Christmas and have used several times since for ice fishing and feel it is worth the hype. I however do put duofold long underwear over the top as they are thin as well. I also use a lot of northface long sleeved shirts as they breathe well and provide warmth and have not been cold yet. I usually wear a thin wind blocker for bow season as far as outer shell and just layer underneath.

Under Armor is good stuff but I like the new capilene by Patagonia better. It seems to fit better, not as restrictive as UA, and has a silky feel too it which is more comfortable on your skin. Of course, it is more expensive thant UA.

The UA and other base layers rock, Polartec fleece is my favorite to top with if not 2 tight bases on underneath and a wind/water proof jacket. Weather or not the outer layer is insulated depends on how crappy it is outside, but being weather proof is a major plus.
Probably the worst thing you could do is throw anything cotton on over or in-between your synthetic base layers, this halts all moisture removal in it's tracks. Spend the extra cashfor breathable clothes and you won't be sorry.
Also you can pack a small camo bag with your fleece or camo and "reverse layer", dress lighter when going to your spot or putting up a climbing treestand after a long hike, You won't be as apt to sweat, creating more scent, getting cold and wet after not moving, blah blah.

under armor top and bottom (cold gear) then start layering with a light weight thermol, then medium , then heavey. or polor wieght then cabelas has a wind sheir wool shirt. the winds what gets me when hunting so the cabelas wool/wind blocker shirt should help out alot. then when its just down right cold put on grabber adhesive body warmers. they stick to you bottom layer. put one on your chest. and one on each kidney and when its even colder ad one to your chest. when done stick them together and put them in a ziploc baggie to deactivate them.
