I have a Shappell and just use a couple small lengths of chain to hang poles/tipups from uppre support pole. Of course this only works when shanty popped up and i'm not terribly familiar w traps. Hope it helped a little :confused:

Found 'em,,, mount these into the "back side" of your shanty.

They come in 2 pieces,, they hold like 5 rods. You mount them on the wall at whatever distance apart. They have foam "slots" that you push the rods into. I'll try and find a pic.

I made a wooden box for mine...the top is half open so you slip the rods in and they stay in.....I have many thorne brothers and st.croix rods so I did not want any damage done....I travel up north almost exclusively by 4-wheeler and snow mobile so they bounced around even more so than walking and ! have never had any damage done since I made this!!

I also made a plywood box,I put a set of Berkley rod holders in it ,have not broke a rod or reel transporting them. seem like when you load up the shack and your buddy throws something in the shack it is always lands on your stuff

It would be great if Roger or Houghton Laker (or both) had a pic of the boxes they made. Thanks for the ideas anyway if you don't.

I also have a wooden box I built to keep my rods and tackle in. I built it a little heavy but works good on the front of my quad for traveling. I will try and get a pic tonight when I get home from work.

I have the Berkley rod holders (mentioned above), I screwed them to a piece of 1 x 4. I have it hanging on the back wall of my shanty with small linked chains on each end. The chains are hooked with little "s" hooks for easy on / off.
Instead of putting them on the way they were designed to be. I put them on end to to end. I hang the rods in just below the handle with the tips down. Only need one holder this way.

I have one some what like that one from cabelas but it holds 6 to 8 rods @ reel combos. It also has 2 nice size pockets on each side of the bag it has stiff sides to protect your gear. I like it they protect your gear and is light weight and nice to carry (shoulder strap).

If your sled has a rail system that hold you seats up try a piece of fabric, big enough to make a pouch under them. this is what I did on my frabil Ranger with the bench seat system. holds more that your fishing rods[ tip-ups,slush spoon, ect.....]

zip ties and some 3/4 " sprinkler pipe works great...slip the tip end in first then back up the rod handle end in last and zip tie them over on the side of the sled...Good Luck Mark

what i have seen a few people i fish with use and it works great is take a 1x4 or 1x6 piece of wood and fasten lengths of 1" pvc (whatever length you choose for rods) to the lumber. . then you can bungy the whole thing down to your shanty and just slide your rods in all the way to the butt. . if you strap it to the shanty at an angle, then you will not have to worry about them falling out in transport also. . it works real good to protect the rods and easier than trying to put them in a rod bag or something where they get tangled and such. .

I have several of the cloth "Cabelas" type. They have hard tubes to protect the rods and keep them safe while in the truck or shanty.I purchased them at Gander. They are $15-20 each. I picked them up half off in March a few years back. I also picked an injection molded Plano arrow case on sale for about $5 that has foam to hold the arrows. I use it to hold ice rods though. For the price we pay for ice fishing rods these days a good case is necessary.

Heading up north to fish this weekend...I'll try to remember to snap a photo of it....Nothing special...but it has protected my rods for about 5 yrs. now without incident!;)
