guys do any one out there have a clam 6800? seen one at dick's yesterday for under $500.00 and it did look nice. i have a large family and the kids said if i get this for them they will go out with me more. i do like the floor in the shanty.
the biggest question i have is this easy to set up?
and does it pull across the ice and snow fairly nice?
i would be pulling it by hand.
right now im running a two man frabil and don't care for the bar set up but itworks great for me and one other so i will be keeping it for the days i go out alone.
I am not sure about the 6800, I have a 5600. it is a HEAVY shanty, it pulls great across the ice, I have pulled mine through 6 inches of power snow, as long as it is just the shanty it pulled fine, once you start stacking stuff on top of it, it became harder to pull through the snow.
Set up is really snap once you do it once or twice. They are great for blocking out the wind and are quite sturdy.

I saw a fisherman this past weekend pulling one . It seemed to pull fairly easy and didnt seem to have much drag behind it . That is a sweet shanty though .

My best friend has a 6800 and I have a 2000. Weight in pulling it a long distance (>1/4 mile) becomes an issue. If you can build a rack with skis to pull it, then it is not a problem at all. I build a rack for my 2000 to try out with some old cross country skis and that worked great. I pulled it out in a blizzard and 15+" of snow without a problem.
Lots of room for the whole family. Makes a great base camp.

i bought one on ebay last march for $185.it had a few tiny mice hole that i patched and its good to go. its great for the kids. i can fish 4 guys in it and have another 1-2 guys in it sucking on soda's. you dont want to drag it far. its heavy and sucks dragging out but once its out its great. the sharrpell 4000 is alot easier to move around.
