Hi Trout. I hit alot of the lakes around these parts everyday when I'm done baiting. It depends what your fishing for. I usually fish onshore because all I have is a Johnny boat. I do pretty well catching crappies and blue gills. I have caught some nice bass too. I do catch nicer fish when I take the boat out. It's a toss up tho fishing or grouse hunting. I usually grouse hunt while driving around running baits then fish afterward. I have experimented with some trout fishing too but haven;t got the hang of that quit yet.
In this part of the UP you can keep pretty busy hunting and fishing at that time of the year. There are alot of lakes to fish and several good trout streams. It keeps me busy, Born

Yes trout there seems to be alot of grouse. Seems like you see alot of them going to and from your bear bait.Do you stop and shoot grouse on the way or get to your stand and hunt bear. But any ways grouse are every where up here.

It all depends on the weather, last year we shot bear on the last weekend in the snow.So I ended up baiting from Aug. 10 to Oct.26.

birddog,

How much does a guided bear hunt run these days?
I was going to go to Colorado to elk hunt next fall (fall of 2001) but the price of tags just went up to $450, and that is just for the tag. So I thought about going Bear hunting in my own backyard and was wondering on the costs. I do realize I have to draw a tag first, but was still wondering.

Thanks for any info.

Mr. Ed
