We went to the Winter Cove area around 8:30. We moved five times and got one perch and one bluegill. We fished in anything from 2 feet of muck to 5 feet that was pretty clear.
I saw one guy by the boat launch, does anyone know if that's a decent area?

Were you out in a blue shanty? If so, I was north of you by Baypointe beach.

I have cought some real nice Gills and Perch in that lake. I was in about 12-15 feet but that was last year. Its a good lake but they can be tricky to find.

I fished New Years eve day in the middle lake for a few hours, caught 1 sixteen inch bass, hooked a bigger bass that bent my hook and got off at the edge of the hole and had a big fish cut my line. Fished the main lake the next day and only action was one tip-up fish that we missed and all the 4 inch perch you can catch.

Is there still ice in the middle of the lake? Crappie fishing is good if you can find the channel which is about 18 FOW and fish the top 10 feet of water. Swedish pimple with about 6 spikes or more loaded on the treble. Crappie can be as big as 16 inches and you don't catch any unless you find exactly where they are holding. State record did come from here. Vexs are a time saver but it can be done without one.

Whole lake is frozen with 5-6" of ice.

I was out there yesterday and and the ice was pretty solid. We fished pretty close to the dam that flows out and stayed a distance from the dark snow. Ice got 4" at the thinnest and was at least 6 closer to shore. Nice clear ice and water with no slush on top...until this weekend. We caught nothing but dink perch all the way from that bay by the access there up to the dam. 4 tip-ups/one flag (false alarm).

Should be just slushy on top of ice, should be fine besides that. The lake we fished on today had slushy surface but there was a good 8 inches plus of ice underneath.
