View Full Version : Another snow storm coming
Was just looking at the forecast and it looks like we may get another snow storm tonight. Just in time for the final day of deer season. Don't know if it will help, but it sure can't hurt. I haven't seen a deer my last 7 times out.
Good luck to everyone who plans to hunt the final days. And don't party to much tonight so that you have a hangover and can't get up in the morning :)
i hear you Erik...ive not seen anything my last times out. did see a large yote the other day and i bunch of squirrels. i plan on spending most of the day in the woods tomorrow. good luck to everyone that still has tags left like me!

I need to at least see a deer to pass on...
I didn't get a chance to go out after the last big snow... hopefully the snow drives some behavior that allows me to see the deer... not just their tracks and droppings.
Well despite getting out of work early, and getting to my hunting spot at 2:00. Even with an approaching storm, I still did not see a single deer tonight. I did however count 11 shots after legal shooting hours. And not just a little bit after either. The last one I heard I was clear back up to my house, (its a mile walk from my stand). It was like 6:45pm. Guess some people are seeing em
Good luck to you guys in the morning!
Happy New Year!

Maybe this is an example of the deer's internal mechanisms working better than Doppler 4000. They knew the storm would come in late before we did.
I myself am going to let some of the roads get driven over a bit before I head out. I think I'll head out earlier than usual for an evening shift in my tent.

Despite our illness, my son and I made the 1.75hour trek to Jackson County yesterday evening. We would have gone today but with the snowy forecast, we didn't want to risk it.
We got in our blind at 3 and had the wind in our favor. This is the same spot I shot an 8 point last year. After waiting til 5:20, I finally noticed something standing on the left edge of the field about 200 yards away. There were at least 8 does but they weren't leaving that edge. They kept staring across the other side of the field. I thought maybe a buck was there. They come out about 10 yards and stop. They are frozen like a bunch of lawn statues. Then my son says, "There's some over there." Well, it was another doe group of about 5 or 6 coming in from the right. All the girls meet in the center of the field and start feeding on the cut corn.
We are quickly running out of light. We need them to come our way. COME ON BABIES!!!! Come On!!!!
NOOOooooooooo :yikes: they start heading the wrong way. Don't go that way, PLEASE COME THIS WAY.
But nothing doing. It's past 5:39 and they are going away from us.
Oh well, I guess that's the breaks.
I got up this morning to go but after staring at about 1ft of snow, I think I'll wait until the Michigan game gets out of hand and then head out to Bald Mountain in hopes of getting something in the freezer.
Good luck everyone.
