View Full Version : Best bet for ice?
Is the raft the best bet for relatively safe ice tomorrow, (monday) ? From reading the posts it sounds ok over there. Really looking to get out tomorrow with a buddy of mine. Not looking for any secret tips or hot spots. If there are any other areas that seemed ok, please let me know so I can call my buddy in the a.m.
Thank you!

i havent been to the raft in 3 weeks but that is the first and last safe ice on this lake...if not there then nowhere!
Was just there yesterday, the bay is OKAY but that's about it, a lot of open water in that area and the canals have open water by the entrances of them so you can't get in. I myself didn't chance it and left, I don't recomend it - Bryon
Thank you. That sounds like the plan to me. I have never been out on ice that I didn't feel good about and it sounds like even the raft is not the best right now. Hopefully by next weekend we'll be in better shape. I don't like what I see in the extended forcast though! I'm getting impatient. :16suspect

MDHWell like I said the bay is OKAY but okay is about it. I haven't heard of people catching much in the bay of the raft anyways so far this year. The canals have been great, I'll keep you posted on how the ice is over there if you'd like - Bryon
Sounds good. I appreciate it. I guess I can't complain too much since I was out fishing twice over the weekend up north. Last year at this time there was no decent ice anywhere. Thanks again,

My son and I took a ride by the north end of the lake monday morning, BF had to work, There was Ice by the fairhaven launch and some guys out but the ice only went maybe 100-200 yards at the most off shore, most of the guys were about 50-100 yards out on the ice, It cant be more than a few feet deep where they were. We went down to Brandenburg, The ice at the launch went out 30-40 yards (not halfway out the pier):(
hopefully Ill be able to get out this weekend or next if it stays cold
BF may have to stay at home there may be enough ice to support 125 lbs but I might not want 230lbs sitting next to me:lol:
