Far Beyond Driven

Wife and I struggled to have kids but ended up with a great daughter who pretty much has been the easiest kid to raise ever.
Decided to have another kid and no no troubles getting pregnant, none with the pregnancy, and she came out so fast I almost missed it.
However, this daughter didn't grow like her older sister. Could not figure it out, had Early On get involved, then the pediatrician, then Spectrum, Devos, MRI's, biopsies, scans, and you name it with a whole slew of specialists. I was contract at the time and insurance was expensive, but nothing compared to what they covered for us - could have bought a new Jeep in 2 months. Not to mention all the time my wife took to get the kid to all these appointments as I was contract and could not take time off.
Turns out it was a missing enzyme needed for muscle growth that her liver will never make, but three doses of supplement a day and she'll be good to go.
We ended up with weekly therapy, and they said if she walked by Christmas (15 months), she could stop going to therapy. She wasn't too keen on this as she could crawl fast enough to catch our cats, and that didn't involve having to stand up and fall over.
Christmas morning she was coasting along the edge of the couch, let go, and took 9 steps to the tree and picked up a present.
Somehow I don't think the timing of this was accidental. Again I am reminded that as proud a person as I may be, I really don't control much.
Thanks for reading.
