Steve has added a "Tournament Talk" section in the Warm Water section. Check it out.
Please add your clubs' schedule, rules, cost, etc... to this section so we can start to get some idea how much time we'll be spending on the water this upcoming season!

After the last run in I had with a tournament, all I can say is F 'em. I roll into Fisherman's Landing this last fall at 5:00am to fish salmon in Mo lake and I parked my boat in the designated boat prep area to put my plugs in and what not. This Ho with a clipboard has the freakin' nerve to come and tell me that I need to hurry up because her bass guys have to get their boats ready. My loud and verbally aggressive response can't be printed here.

Well, it does make sense to have a special forum for guys who pee their pants at the thought of doing battle with a real fish--isn't that why pools have a shallow end? :evilsmile

I'm pretty sure the bass talk goes in the food plot forum, since fertilizer is the only known use for the fish.

Man, I LOVE the shallow end of the pool. Great place to throw a senko or a spinnerbait. Or a jig. Or a top water frog. Or a floating Rapala. Or a buzzbait. Or a fluke. Or a Sweat Beaver.
I think you get the picture.
Speaking of pictures... only 4 more months.

Soo... what did that "Bass" weigh ?? Looks like a good 7-8LBs from my screen!!!

Actually Mike - you made it clear that your gas money situation was putting a crimp on your style the last time I talked to you on the phone , my trailer's STILL In shambles and I've been hitchin' a ride the last few MONTHS now.
Not to mention , the eyeball fishin' hasn't been ANYTHING like last year , gotta bust your nuTz for a few decent fish and the biggest I've landed was 7LB or soo....
I've actually been wanting the ice to Firm up so I can see if that little lake near Brandon might cough up some fish.... God knows Fremont's all fished out. I'm about ready to go perchin' .......

Brandon already offered to fix the one bearing that had a bad seal and everything is on the tongue - I just need to measure it out & tighten.... Drill a few holes for new clearance lights , solder & heat-shrink.....but seeing as I have that 40 hour a week interruption of my fishin' time going almost continuous .....
When the weekend comes - I want to go fish , not work on a cold cement floor....
AH Hell!! Who am I kidding....

Give it a few months Krusty...and they're in there so damn thick it messes w/ my smallie fishing...Yes, I said WALLEYE interfere with my BASS fishing...
Hell, last opening season (bass C&R), I've never in my life hooked into so many walleyes in a night...and all on tubes while fishing bass....Go figure.
I can only imagine how many more eyes I'd hook into if I actually cared to target the 'dead weight'...Great eating, but what a dump of a fish to 'catch'....
Maybe I'm just bitter at the fact that I worked 6pm-2:30am bartending New Year's Eve...and after getting out, I realized a customer who'd had a fight w/ his girlfriend had no way home (and he had to go to Ionia, about 20 minutes from GR with GOOD roads...and we had about 2" of snow)... Well being the good hearted a-hole that I am, I took the guy home...Only to find out that my wife went into a ditch (right as I was heading home from Ionia...:rant:)...
Aside from the above rant though, have a good one guys (and gals)...and tight lines...Whether fishing for the dead weight eyes, or feisty bass/steelies....
Take Care,
and happy new year  you can tell mine got started the 'right' way, waiting on a bunch of drunks while i got to play 'babysitter'...HA

I was pokin' fun - Hutch knows what a PILE of eyes the Grand hosts....
When they get 5-10 LBs they are plenty of fun and I'll admit LB for LB a Small Jaw will out pull one easily. You don't have to "wait a few months" for the eyes to show up either....(they are in now).
Well , was the Wife OK???
You forgot to mention that?????
Things happen for a reason , and sometimes those reasons aren't clear at first - - it's anew year Dave , so start fresh & move on!!
You'll always have to babysit drunks.... unless you hang with guys that don't drink....Like me~ LOL!!!!
Someday you'll enjoy catching anything.... like them stinky whitefish...LOL

Sorry about not including details on Carmen, she's doing fine... I guess she just fell asleep (since it was about 3am and she goes to bed early...like 11pm-midnight) and went into a snowbank/ditch (still not quite sure lol)...A truck passing by pulled her out w/o any scratches on her (or the car), so that was a good thing.
In regards to 'all species' fishing, in reality, I enjoy catching anything. I'd prefer a bass to many fish in terms of the fight, although I'd prefer a walleye to just about every fish (save perch maybe...) on my plate.
I've always been leery keeping fish out of the Grand, especially those that spend most of their lives in the river system...That being said, have you (or anybody else reading this for that matter) eaten walleye out of the Grand? I'm not worried about the disease or anything like that...Just the taste, are they still GOOD? Or all 'polluted tasting'? Just curious...
And those whities were a blast to catch, too bad I only made it out there once :(

I once fried up an eye from the Grand...first bite tasted good - but in my mind's eye I saw all those "items" I'd pulled up in the past & I think I heard the "floodgates" open too...
I spit it in the trash...did NOT swallow it..

NOT IN MY MOUTH!!!

Check the MI Fish Consumption Advisory booklet, fish resident in the Grand are about the SAFEST fish to eat in the entire state.;)
Even 30"+ pike, catfish, and carp test clean. Anadromous fish from Lake MI far more toxic.
I eat plenty of cats from the grand, look at me! :one_eye::yikes::coco:!

My bad, the word was on my 'fishing vocabulary calendar' last month!:cwm27:
Just figured I was in the company of the state's finest fisherman.
You got a degree or two from UofM, right Mikey?(hope it didn't cost alot there bro;)) I thought you'd be the one to point out the word anadromous most usually refers to fish changing from salt to freshwater environs. Maybe I shoulda used the word 'migratory', or even 'fish dat swim long way from big lake'.
