Well with this warm weather coming next week I was wondering if any of you have been fishing the river for walleye, I sure would like to get out ;) I"ll have to get EYES & Z'S out of hibernation :D
I've taken walleye out of that river in the city of st.clair this time of year. Minnows on a split shot rig took most of them. What I did was use about 1/4 oz bull-shot about 2ft. from a number 4 hook and a minnow, cast it up stream and let it drift down and repeat. I also got one of my biggest smallmouth like that two years ago there that was a 7lber. Walking the wall in st.clair this time of year takes walleye too. Small raps, size 5's that float are great. Put about a 3/16oz sinker 18inches above the rapala and just walk it slowly. My Dad took a 26inch walleye last December doing that, the thing INHALED the Rap too. Glass Shad Raps also take fish walking, I like the number 4 perch color. I'd also like to add that light line is the key too, 4-6lb test.

Talked to a guy pulling his boat out of the Marysville ramp Monday afternoon. He has been out vert jigging at least three times the past two weeks. Did well one day with a couple eyzs, steelhead and sucker. Last time nada. Resident walleye do stay in the river all year. As said before minnows seem to be the ticket this time of year..........
