Im trying to do a little equiptment upgrade over the l o n g winter. what do you guy's feel is a good affordable rod for pulling bouncers in the river? I purchased 2- 7'6" trolling rods from cabelas and the more I look at them, they seem like they may be more well suited for hoisting big salmon rather than 18" walleye. I was wanting to have 4 identical set-ups come spring time.
I wish I were a bear and just wake up april 1st

Most trolling rods have the foam handles, not as sensitive as a cork handle. For Me, 7 1/2' medium heavy/heavy action Flipping rod works well, teamed with a low-profile baitcaster with a flipping switch and 20lb. Fireline. Use up to 4 oz. BB's with no problem. I hand hold when bouncing, but if You rest them in a rod holder the foam handles should work OK. My .02, C-man
Diawa has a new line of heartland and firewolf rods. They are priced from 19.99-34.99 and are the best rods i have used for the price. The 34.99 rods have cork handles and with fireline are as sensitive as higher end rods. You can get em through Bass Pro. Also they are great rods for trolling Erie, easily detect smaller fish on boards with em.

I use Eagle Claw Starfire rods, 8'6" long, medium light action. I really like these rods personally. I have to buy 2 more in the offseason because I accidentally backed my car over them in the garage a few months ago.

Thanks for the few tips. I guess I won't know how happy I am with my purchase until I get to try them. The wife  wouldn't let me hook them to the dogs and reel them in. Spring time can't come soon enough
