Anybody been on the Raft this week? [Archive] - The Michigan Sportsman Forums

I'm looking at Saturday to take my 13 year old nephew to the Raft and fish the canals. I'm hoping somebody can tell me how the ice is in the canals as well as the ice on the way to the canals. Any info is much appreciated, thanks - Bryon

Two days ago, my buddies were there and it was too foggy. Ice, they said varied alot. No success for them there, they went to Harsen's after and once again no luck. Hope that helps. good luck n stay dry.;)

I was just out there. Ice is still +4" in the majority of the area. Water cloudy. Most people seemed to be catching small fish.

I haven't seen anyone go through yet this year.... but it is still early!!!!

If your concerned, fish where everyone else is fishing. Safety in numbers and if you do fall through, others will have something to chuckle about!

No safe ice for the canals at the raft what so ever. There's no way to get to them, open water by both canals. Don't go out people, you will regret it. Too bad it cost us 20 bucks in bait and parking to find out.

You guys can fish the bay if you want. The ice seamed safe and there was a lot of shanty's out but the canals are definatly a NO-NO. I didn't notice anybody doing anything in the bay either. My advice is to wait for that ice to sure up big time before making it out. - Bryon
