...safe ice up til about 100 yds off shore...3 inches @ 100 yds...bout 5 inches at 70 yds...wouldn't venture into "stacked ice"...water was very murky....fished in about 4 FOW...caught 4 dinks...6 dink perch between Mushy and I...no keepers...heard of a few more caught amongst about 10 different fishing parties in this tight area...be careful...the ice is still iffy...wrong wind and???

I was out there 12-27-07 9:30-12:15. My buddy and I each got 15-20 small perch and threw them all back. The biggest was 7", but that was only 1. You could only see about 10-12" down, and the fish were real finicky.
What worked for us was jigging on the bottom for a minute or two and then bringing it up to where we could see it. Almost everytime a fish followed it up, and then we could watch the fish just stare at the bait for a while. They seemed kind of confused . . . like a redneck in an art museum.

Just out there today 12-28 there were a few guys out there spuded my way out on the day sail it was about 2-3in not the safest looking ice though hope it holds till sunday im out there.CAREFUL FISHIN

Thanks for the info pearcheater... saved me an afternoon and a lil gas. Just to let anyone know, my Pops and a friend are in Harrison with a fresh 15 inch of snow, they couldn't pull in the driveway last night.:p other friends that have fished the last two days have been dinks.

Hey Duck Hunter if we don't start making some serious ice down here we may have to get Mushy to take us up to Simcoe in that new truck of his. I am getting a serious case of cabin fever!
