Last year I had seen a show that Michigan out-of-doors out on about taking a ice fishing charter via an airboat. I tried to google it and I can only pull up charters out of ohio. I could have sworn the guy they used was out of Michigan. If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated (looking to take my future brother-in-law out).

I saw the same show, and They caught some nice fish. HMMMMMMMMM, some of you charter guys should get this going. How much could a Fan Boat be, you could pay for it in one season.....

How does $30k+ to start strike you????

Cheap part is the hull...expensive part is the fan and hull supports.

Go with these guys....granted, they are out of OH...but yep..they catch fish..

WOW, with the number of Fan Boats i saw out in Mitchells bay last year, you would think they are reasonably priced. Its the only way to Ice fish, for the extreme fisherman. Ive only been once, with a neighbor from Harsens, but it was awsome. We made it from the middle channel to Mitchells Bay in 35 min., and found some nice SLOBS to boot......

One of them that fishes South Bass is Pat Chrysler. He uses a fan boat, and has an excellent reputation. Only problem is you have to fly over there on some verrrrry...................well, experienced planes, or some verrry small planes. I white knuckle it:tdo12: every couple of years or so. Capnhook

If the lake freezes like it usually does I'll show any of you where to get them big fish, we go out of camp perry. The fish on my profile are from there 3 years ago, we got a 12 and 10 pounder on that stringer, the big fish were caught of brown Jigging raps, each hook tipped with shiners. It's a great time out there. Sometimes you have to go out 5 to 8 miles and of course only on a north wind. I'll keep you posted on the situation of the lake, most years we dont get out that far till mid February. If you go please do not go past the 1st BIG crack on an offshore wind, that is where most people get in trouble. If you happen to catch a couple in 1 spot, move, thats the key to a limit out there, you only have to move 50 yards in either direction. If you all wanna know more info on this let me know.

My hunting partner has one that we use for hunting ,fishing etc. the cost varies depending on what you want it to be able to do. noise and fuel economy is a concern. but if you want to get somewhere thats the boat you need period. If a blow boat wont get you there you probably shouldnt be there anyway. we have been through various small outboards and 2 styles of jet outboards and they are now considered backups.

A friend who is currently in Fl. has one for sale. It is located in Houghton lake. It is I believe a little over 15" has a stroker small block (all aluminum, roller everything, mostly edelbrock, professionally built)about 450-500hp.
fiberglass hull with poly on bottom. 8 blade whirlwind prop. mint condition throughout. HOT!!!!! will run dry easy, he loads it in the driveway without tilting the trailer. I would have to check but I believe he wants around $15,000 you couldnt build the motor for under $10,000
