well son went threw the ice about 40 feet from the shore at 4pm looks to be a big hole someone had punched threw the ice with a spud ice on the edge of the hole was 5" inches thick. had three 29 inch pike on the ice at that time so the wife takes the kids home and plans to get back out for a few crappie right at dusk all hell breaks loose and i am catching crappie as fast as i can get a hook in the hole. this goes on for about 45 minutes and just before the wife get backs the bite stops she gets set back up and hook a few i catch the last few stragglers i need for my limit when i remember i have a tip up with no light on it go check it out and it is spooled out i grab the line and she starts putting the line on the spool i get to my swivel and still no tugging going on than a large head appears and all hell breaks loose and this boy burns my hand as i am yelling at the wife to let the spool free spin he run the 100yards of line out again we go threw this three times with him before we finally put a 32 inch pike on the ice ended up with 5 pike 2 keeper gills and 30 crappie. will be back out on christmas night the kids can go threw some fish.

north east of grand rapids the lake is out in gowen just northwest of greenville

Nice job. I was out there too. You probably saw me. Guy without the shanty. I left right around 4. Must have been just before your son went through.

I only caught a few dink gills. I guess I'll be bringing minnows next time.

oka you where the guy right behind me than get with me saturday if you want to go out and we can give it a try on the pike in the afternoon and some crappie in the eve

I don't think I'll be heading up again this week. It's kind of a hike for me. Thanks for the offer though.

It's a nice little lake. I'm going to make a point of fishing it at least once this season. I'll let you know next time I'm going up there.
