Finally, I get to give a report, meaning that I finally made it out on the ice rather than just sitting around reading about how well everyone else is/is not doing.
Fished Lake Ovid this morning from about 8-10:30. Nothing too exciting, probably caught about 50 gills/crappies, only about 15 came home with me though. Ice was good, about 6" (measured) everywhere with only a little bit of slush/water on top of it.
The biggest surprise was that other than a couple guys about 100' from the ramp, I was the only one on the lake!
Regardless, just happy to get out and I'll be even happier once the first fillets of the season are sizzling in the frying pan!

Was out there saturday evening through dark, north end, caught lots of small gills and crappies. no keepers yet. I agree that its funny no one is fishing. saw one portable on the north end of the island and 2 guys in the channel off the bridged island. nice to be on the ice:D.

Nothing real big, think the biggest was gill was about 9", the rest that went into the bucket were in the 7"-8" class, couple crappies in the 10" range, the rest were all sub-6" fish.
Pink Jamming Jigs bobber fry with a hot pink plastic seemed to do the trick, however it was only the second jig I tried and never changed after that.

well i went mon. morning and fished near the boat launch area. the ice was only 3-4" so i wasnt gonna go crossing the lake. caught about a dozen small perch and a few bluegils. gonna go back out somtime the week and try on the south end of the island, heard there is good structure there. felt weird out there cuz i was the only one and wanted to go exploring but wasnt brave enough being by myself. anyone gonna go out this week let me know and ill go that day. wanna learn the lake a lil better.

was out yesterday 4-6pm north end of the lake never found over 4" of ice. Ice was mostly clear and black, no snow, moanin' n groanin' making ice. Drilled 20 or more holes and fished 8-16fow and caught fish constantly. have yet to get any gills over 6.5" so no keepers yet. had a great time anyway. would use caution as some spots appeared to have opened up and re-frozen 2-2.5" ih spots.
