I was out on Silver tonight and the ice runs from 4 1/2" in the main lake to 6 1/2" in the back bays. Fishing was slow as the pike were on the move! I did manage to get about 15 gills ranging from dinks to 8 inches. Hooked onto a nice size pike but lost him when it straightened my hook and I landed one bass off my tip up. It was good to be back out on the ice!

for awhile as it was warm yesterday and the wind picked up during the night.
Its blowing good right now and 50 degrees.
Almost all of the snow is gone except for a few spots where the drifts were deepest.
Gonna need some really cold weather to straighten the ice out!

That warm spell and rain yesterday was the best thing that could have happened to the ice around here. Got rid of that insulating snow cover! It was down to 18 degrees at 7pm last night, it will be making ice faster than ever right now! ;)

A couple buddies and i fished near silver lake sat. 4-5 inches of ice (black ice) with some slop on the top that was starting to freeze. We did pretty good on the gills and crappie. I think the ice will be fine. Wasnt to happy to find a hole in my rubber boot the hard way 25 miles from home.

:yeahthat:` I found the same. The main body of ice seems to be in great shape under the crap that is now frozen on top.

Fished Portage cannel today. Seen tons of fish, But only nibblers and watchers. Tried everything in the boxs but no luck. They did seem to prefer Mouses with a very lite bite. They have been shut down for the last 3 days. I'll try again Saturday. Ice about 5 inches thick.

Was out on Silver tonight, the ice is 6". I had 4 flags and landed three pike, still getting use to using circle hooks on my tip up! The pike were on the move again today and the gill fishing was on and off. We managed to catch about 40 gills ranging from dinks to 10 inches.

Got out again today and the gills turned back on caught 20 in three hour. Two bass and had a nice walleye nibbled at my wax worm. Fish cam worked great today and made things a little more intresting. Heading out in the AM for some more fun on the ice. Ice 5 plus inches thick.

Was out on Silver again tonight and the fishing was not the best! All dinks till the pike moved, I hooked a 30+ inch Pike but that did not last long on 2 lb line. I thought the crappie were going to turn on, caught two and that was it! On a better note the ice in the back bay was 7 inches!
