My brother and I are thinking of going over there Christmas morning. Anyone ever had any luck or know where we should start?

Thanks

It's been a few years since I fished big bass but we used to do well off the public access for gills. I used to fish loon a lot, gills and specs,.

Thanks

Just talked to Mike at Tiny's Trading Post. He said they have 6-7" of good ice and the perch have been biting. Also said someone pulled a nice pike out last week.

Used to fish Big Bass years ago, fished around the island for gills
did pretty good. We had a place on Loon Lake and did nothing but
catch small gills and pike...

we used to walk off the launch towards the island and fish pike an perch. Haven't fished it in quite a while though. It has some steep drops around the island though, good structure. And never saw alot of guys out there.

I guess their's 2 LITTLE Bass Lakes now! :lol::yikes:

After the lake's bout w/ LMBV a few years back. 2 dinks took the teardrop bass tourney there this summer, which had been skipping the lake for a couple years. Bass population took a BIG hit, I bet it'll be a few more years even, before it gets back to something worthwhile (for bass). That lake used to be the BEST in Lake Co. for bass, now it sucks.

Good luck for pannies!

-I STILL wouldn't put my boat in that lake (when ice-free, of course;))

i HEAR YA ON THE LACK OF BASS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS... I USE TO CATCH NICE BASS ALL DAY LONG WITH QUITE A FEW OVER 20" (ALL BASS RELEASED) AND THE LAST FEW YEARS HASNT EVEN BEEN WORTH FISHING FOR THEM.. AS FOR ICE FISHING, I FISHED ONCE THIS YEAR ALREADY AND LANDED 10 DECENT PERCH RIGHT AT DUSK ON THE S SIDE NEAR THE OLD STORE. NEVER TRIED FOR GILLS AND ONLY HAVE CAUGHT SMALL PIKE. I'LL BE UP AT BIG BASS THE 26TH OF DEC THROUGH THE NEW YEAR IF YA WANNA GET IN TOUCH

I know there is ice on it... but please... because of the Large Mouth Bass Virus this lake has experienced... keep all fish you catch OUT of any other lake you may visit.

My bet would be that with the lack of larger bass in this lake the pannies and perch population should be pretty good these days. The pike can't eat em all... though they sure like to try!!
