That perch takes FGH (fish growth hormone):D. You should put that sucker on the wall . Pretty good chance you'll never catch another that big . Great job and thanks for posting the pic .

I've only seen two bigger than that. Caught by the same guy, from the same lake while fishing for rainbows. The first one was 15 1/2 he got it mounted, then two week later he gets a 16 3/4.......well, his wife wasn't gonna let the second one go to the taxidermist

I got one that I have mounted from Hubbard lake 16 inches 2 and a half pounds.
GREAT fish, when I was like 14 I was fishing off shore at metro early in the year with my dad and brother with a perch rig and got a 14incher that weighed 2lbs according to a spring scale. I was SOOO Happy. Sadly those are so rare in that lake now I may never get another one there again :(

That for sure is a nice fish.
DE82 There are still nice fish to be had in LSC. We get a couple every year around 14 inches. I always seem to find bigger fish south of where you have been fishing, all we need is ice!!
My buddy got one last year that was just shy of 15 inches

Mmmmmm, big perch!!!!!! It's nice to see them! I hope the kid mounts it too 'case their arn't that many of those pigs around.
In Lake Huron, my biggest was 17 inches way back in the late 80's, it was long and skinny and my heaviest was a 15 1/2 incher from Lake Simco that went 2.66 pounds (also late 80's). Being a young stupid kid at the time, I ran a knife through both of em.
Where's seaweed when you need him? That hunny needs to milked!

It does't look like a Lake Michigan fish. I used to get jumbos out of Pere Marquette in Ludington but it petered out. I did catch a 16 incher on a tip up once out of a little lake in northern Kent county.

the only perch i have caught of size and didnt realize perch records before deep frying it. But it did taste great.
Lake independence still not near the record. But it was negative 15 out and the only fish caught. almost 20 inches

actually that fish is the 4th largest caught in the world but the biggest in Maryland.
1st - 4 pound, 3 ounce perch caught in New Jersey in 1865
2nd - 3 pound, 12 ounce perch caught in Michigan in 1947
3rd - 3 pound, 8 ounce perch caught in New York in 1982

Never knew what the world record was. When I was a kid back in the 50's, my great uncle was a commercial fisherman in Omena, which is north of Traverse City in Leelanau Co. I remember going over to his place once and his guys had gotten the gill nets into a bunch of spawners and they had a bunch of fish that were 2-3 #'s and one that was over 4#. To this day, I kick myself for not getting that fish, but no one was into mounting fish back then and I was just a kid anyway. It was gutted with all the others and went into a box of ice and shipped to Chicago.
