Details:
Blank: sc5 60mf rod,
Guides: american tackle titan a frame guides to the running guides which are titan fly guides.
Grip: split grip with copano and dark burl cork.
Reel Seat: aero comfort grip reel seat.
Others: walleye decal, st. croix decal between the grips.
Wraps: chestnut wraps without CP which actually blended in pretty well (sorry bout the quality of the pics, i'll try to get some better ones tomorrow).*

*this rod has been used a few times so it isn't absolutely pristine anymore and i musta got fuzz on it from the new carpeting.

well... the fish is good at catching sheeps... i know that (hence no pics with that). but it has darn good feel and I happen to like minimalist rods (I was going to put copper single turn accent wraps on it but decided against it as I was going fishing the next day). it does have a walleye decal on it, but thats about it as far are adornments. high quality and light guides, light weight grip, comfortable reel seat.... thats where the fishability comes from. i can't wait for spring... this thing had great feel compared to my factory rods and is light as a feather (I'll try to get weight once I get a good fine measurement scale).

i have a sciv blank that is 3/4 finished in the rod building sequence. its going to be a baitcasting jigging rod (with quantum accurist II to match) with split grip and spiral wrap. i figure if i dont like the spiral wrap I can redo it, but from what I know that should be the cats behind. also going to have amtak titan guides with an exposed blank reel seat.

do you like the split grip?
Havent made any like that. I was worried about something to hang on to a handle vs the smaller diameter of the blank.

i do like split grips for rods that don't see much if any time in rod holders.... i have noticed that i nearly never put my hand mid grip on my other rods and i try to NEVER put them above the grip (as it redistributes stress and can lead to easier breakage).
if i'm snagged I always point the rod at the snag and pull using the spool of the reel, so I don't overload the rod.

>> I'm into the lighter the better approach M S U Ice....
Looks like a damn nice stick for sure - I have ONE Pinnacle Inertia bait caster on a 6'6" BioniX IM7 rod that weighs 13.8 Oz. with 30LB braid spooled on it - I'm awfully fond of it's "Horse-Ability" LOL!!
I got bad rotator cuffs and that setup looks like it deserves an equally light reel to strap to it also.
NICE work!
