Looking for a bow for my son who will be 10 in May. He weighs about 93#.
He shot the Mathews Genesis and liked it but I'm concerned about the 20# draw weight. I'd like something that can adjust to a little higher poundage. Maybe up to 35-40?
Anybody have suggestions on what to look for?

Diamond has a real nice package bow for about $300. Just add arrows and a release. You can buy a 30-40 pounder, then next year buy 40-50 pound limbs for about $50.00:D

Wow...300 clams plus release, sights, rest, arrows...OUCH! lol
Does anyone know what poundage a 93# boy can pull on average?

My three children (2 sons, 1 daughter) were probably around 25 pounds at 10 years old.

find a PSE or Browning. well my 13yr old was shooting 35-40lbs at 10. the more you use those muscles the stronger you will be, so get him a cheap recurve to shoot with also to build up strngth.

Thanks Joe. Obviously, I need all the help I can get.
Get him a Parker, they have a grow with the bow program. For $75, you send in the bow and they send it back to you with whatever poundage and draw length he's upgraded to, instead of having to keep buying bows every growth spurt.

My nephew is 13 and is pretty small. He has the Bear Archery Warrior bow. It works pretty good for him and can go up to 30 pounds. He is pretty accurate from 10 yards and is slowly working a t20.

In my opinion the Browning Micro Midas 3 is the best youth bow on the market for the price, less than $200.00. It has 10 inches of draw adustment so you never have to worry about him outgrowing it. I believe the peak poundage goes up as you lengthen the draw. Which means if you by a 40 lb bow it will not max out to 40 at the shorter draw lengths. My granddaughters shot them for several years before they outgrew then and that was the first model with only 6 inches of draw adjustment. I help with our clubs youth instructional league and several of the kids have them and they work great. Much better than the genesis as it has a good positive stop.

my 5 yr old is shooting the Genesis, nice shooting bow. The only thing I don't like is the lack of let-off, my older boy (8) is getting the Darton Ranger III goes from 15-45 lbs and come with all the draw modules. I think it was around $219

AGREED!! Started both my sons out on them at a very young age (around 8). And my oldest (17 yrs old) hunted with his up until a year ago before upgrading to an adult bow. My youngest (14 yr old) has traded for a Martin Jaguar (45#) recently. ;)

i would go with the darton ranger. it goes from 17 to 28 inches of draw length and 15 to 45 pounds. we have them at franks in a package with three beman jr arrows a decent sight, whisker biscuit rest, peep sight, string loop and quiver for three hundred bucks. its called the youth gone wild package. it also comes with all the modules to change the draw length and weight as he grows. definetly the most adjustable bow out there even more than the micro midas.

Martin Leopard would be a good choice.
