How much time should I give between spreading lime(pellet)?
Did a heavy dose about a week ago and had a nice couple rains, disced it up agian today(new field, lots of roots and moss, trying to break it down)
Because of the sandy acidic soil I will have to continue will lime for quite awhile but is there a time limit between spreads?
Once the lime has dispersed you may lime again. What was you pH?

i was told that liming was most effective when done in winter, it gives lime enough time to reduce the ph substancially, but it wont hurt to plant or spread more lime soon after.
did you get a soil test?

I will be getting a soil test in the coming weeks, I just knew I had to spread lime a couple times first and then do the test.
Next question, how long should I wait to collect soil for the test after I limed it heavy. Don't want a false reading on the test if the lime has not complete done its job(dissolved) for that particulair spread????
Thanks Tom and jaime

it usually takes 3-6 months.

B&N, if you do a soil test first, get sample from several different areas and mix them as one sample. when they recieve your sample they will tell you exactly how much lime to put down per acre depending on your desired PH.
you could still do a soil test. what's the worst thing that could happen? instead of 6.5 ph you get 6.8-7.0 ph LOL!
good luck.
