I got myself a Shimano Sedona 750 for my ultra light at the beginning the last season and I just loved it. Honestly, the best reel I've ever used. I'd just like to get others thoughts on how they like Shimano reels and if they've had any problems with them.

I'd also like to ask what kind of oil and grease you guys use for cleaning them?

Shimanos have been my standard spinning reel for 20 years and I have always had great luck with them-even under abusive conditions.

shimanos are solid reels. i like those sedonas, and have a 500fa that works well on one of my ul rigs. the only downer shimano i own is the spirex. it has a solid enough drag but i cant get over the casting trigger and lack of instant anti reverse. but thats what you get for buying something without checking it out. anyway, shimano reels are solid, and i also like the rods they have been coming out with recently.

lately though i have been getting into daiwa. i picked up a team daiwa tds 2500cu off ebay and that reel is sweet. also, my buddy bought a daiwa crossfire that is cheaper than the sedona but i would say is every bit its equal.

To tell the truth, I love the smoothness of shimano spinning reels. I own a Sedona 4000 and a Sonora 2500. Very smooth, good drags. BUT, they BOTH eat bail arms. I've replaced the arms on both of these reels 4 times (shimano has always sent me free replacements) but what a pain in the butt. I've only ever used mono on them, and they still eat those plastic arms. I've pretty much retired both reels because of this. They will probably be on my swapmeet table when Steinfishski has his in February.

I've got 2 Stradics, an old 2000 and a newer 2500. Have caught everything from bass to bonefish with no complaints.

Shimanos are the only spinning reels I will buy now. Very smooth with an excellent drag. I have two Sadona 2500's and a Sahara 2500. Both are great reels.

I bought an MLZ 20 many years ago and it is still going strong. Now getting a range of the MLZ reels from EBay... Oldies but goodies......

I only use Shimano on all my bait casters and spinning reels. I had two Sedonas down to 1. I decided I did not want it anymore and dropped it and it bounced off my pro pole seat in the front of my boat and into green lake.:mad::mad::mad: That is what I get for tucking the rod under my arm when throwing a fish back. I also use the quantam Hot Sauce best oil in my opinion.

I have 2 sahara's (2500 and 750) and both are great, very solid reels. Of the two, the 750 is my favorite. I just picked up the older model stradic 2500 on clearance at BPS this past weekend, so hopefully I will be impressed with that one, too.

I use Quantum Hot Sauce on my reels, BTW.

I have a Spirex 4000 and a Sahara 2500. The Spirex I use for a jigging rod in the river for walleye. The Sahara on a perch rod. I love them both. I think the 2500 is a bit of an overkill for perch but I don't care it's a great reel. The Spirex took a little getting use to, but I like the fact it cycles the line back to the top. Next walleye rod is going to get the same thing.

I had someone give me a Shimano baitcaster reel over 10 years ago. I don't/didnt like them so I never even took it out of the box I just stuck it in a cabinet in the basement. Well this spring I got a great deal on a Walleye jigging rod (pretty much free) and remembered that I had the baitcater in the box in my basement. Put the two together and its now my Fav set up. Probably boated 40-50 walleye with it this summer and cant count the number of perch. Nice reel, nice controls and feel. I Cant believe I let it collect dust in the basement for so long

As a very new angler, I picked up a half dozen of the el-cheapo Shimano's last year (at Meijer) - like $11. They worked pretty good last year. I splurged on a Symetre 4000 and it was smooth as silk. Got my brother a Soltace for x-mas and will start replacing my less expensive ones with Soltaces. As a fan of rear drags, the selection is limited. Shimano Solstace/Symetre are my choice.

Been using Shimono spinning reels and Ulgly Stick poles for walleye here on the St.Clair River for the last 15 years.Never had a problem with either piece of equipment.

Shimano reels are my favorite reel as well. I just picked up a new Shimano Sustain 2500FE and it is my favorite reel I have ever used.
