Since the archery season is coming to a close soon. I am thinking about replacing the strings and cables on my 2005 Mathews Switchback. I was thinking of ordering a set of custom strings and was wondering if anyone out there had a set of custom strings made for their bow and how they liked them. I would also like to know how they compared to the stock string. thanks in advance.

Night and Day Slice.

Good quality string makes a huge difference.
Depending on what you get you generally get faster, quieter and if you get a good one that peep will stay locked on with nothing attached.

Jason at Wolfden does a great job. He's local (Temperance now) and you talk to him live and if your not sure on details he'll walk you through it.

Grouse , here on MS, made the set for my Bullet NoS standard right now and even though he just started doing them he did a damn fine job.

Kelly thanks, I would like to keep the money in Michigan so maybe I will head on over to Temperance and see what he has to offer.

You don't need to "Go" anywhere:D
http://www.wolfdenstrings.com/
Tell him what you have and what material if you have a preference.

For instance...I don't know the difference in materials that well.
I told him I wanted it fast and light (I'm good at quieting them down) and the color and he hooked it up. I never even gave him specs, just told him my bow and model and DL.

Asked him to keep the center serve very tight, 4" with 1.5 above the nock point.

And that's what I got 4 days later;)

10 shots blind...set the peep and shot it 10 more to settle it and it hasn't move again in 2 years:)

Although I've been a Winners Choice man since I can remember, Wolfden will get the next order. All I've ever heard is great things about their strings. ;)

I have had good luck with H&M strings . I have mine made with 452X and there is very little creep . I have used Vapor Trail strings ,and these are every bit as good for $30 less .

I can also put a good word in for Wolfden Bowstrings. I have a set on one of my Bowtechs as well as my Mathews. Nice to have a local guy in Michigan that makes a top notch set of strings.

Is that for string only?:yikes: Both prices you gave certainly don't reflect string only. Can ya give some finer details such as
1) String price
2) Cable price single cam
3) cable price dual cam

That is for string and cables!!!!! Yes, it is true. You can have a whole new set of custom built strings AND cables for the $40 and $48....

And I do not need a set right now.:(

So $40 is the price for single cam bows (string and cable) and $48 for dually's (string and 2 cables)? And those are Fission prices right? Not Wolfden?

Same guy..
Jason Chapman owns Wolfden strings, and Fission is the name of the bow shop he is opening in Luna Pier next year.

He lost his job at the nuclear plant, so string building is his only income right now.

On a side note, does it make anybody nervous that there would be a layoff at a nuclear plant?:dizzy::eek:

Man...bummer for Jason.
That's a crazy good deal on one of the best strings in the business too!

I don't even need any but might order a backup for both.

Well I contacted Fission Archery and am going to drop my bow off with them the weekend before New Years to have a new set of Strings, Cables, String Loop and Peep installed. They are going to install everything and retune my bow for $85. He said I will be knocking out the X ring when he is done. (didn't know new strings would make me that good ).

Gotta throw another tally up for Fission/Wolfden strings...only strings I put on my bows now...that includes for my Monster.

Prestretched, tightest serving you'll ever see, liquiloc and serving saver....your serving simply will not separate, even on harsh single cam rollovers.

Heads and shoulders above WinnersChoice in quality and only waist high on price. Can't beat'em.

Better yet just head out to see them and have them explain the advantages/disadvantages. Santa Claus has already given him my specs and I will be starting out the new year with custom strings.

Well I just got my bow back for Jason at Fission Archery. He put on a new set of Wolfden Stings and Cables and tuned my Mathews Switchback. The strings look great the only problem is, when it was set at 70# it shot 297 fps. Now that it is set at 64# with the new strings it is shooting 302 fps:yikes:. Just kidding it is not a problem, I am very excited to be getting the same speed at 64# that I was getting at 70#. If anyone needs some strings and cables for their bow I would HIGHLY recommend you giving him a call. Great guy, great price and great service, what more could you ask for.

Told you that you would be happy!!!

And just think, you could have bought Winners Choice for $120, and they would have come to your house so you could put them on!:dizzy:

I am afraid to take him my X-Force, he said he gained 10 fps when he switched out the strings on his. Mine is shoot 327 fps now with my hunting arrows, I can't imagion shooting close to 350 fps. Shoot if I get my setup down to 5 gpp that thing would probably be shooting around 360 with the new strings. Can you say 1 pin out to 40 yards:yikes:.

Thanks for pointing me in his direction. I am going to take it up to Capitol tomorrow to resight it in.
