What does every one think of the new lottery?

Just wondering whst every one thinks of the new points system the MDNR has set for bear hunting?

It has it's good points and bad. One good thing tho it sounds like it will help with the problem of anti's wasting our tags. It's a new system so I'm sure many will complain because people generally don't like change. It would appear it evens out everyones chance of drawing a tag since people won't be able to draw several years in a row while others never get a tag. What I don't like is, it appears after you draw a tag it may take several years until you are able to draw another, due to the point system.

I think they need to do something to change, I know a few people who applied since tags started and still haven't gotten tags.
Questions I have are 1)What happens in a couple of years when everyone has required points, do they issue more then? 2)Are Non-resident applicants given same chances as resident apps. 3)If person is drawn and doesn't purchase a license why isn't the draw returned and given to second chance qualifier so someone who wants to hunt is given that chance ?

Yes Yooper i know a few people that are in the same boat for drawing tags.And no they won't issue more license just because people have been getting there points from applying for a few years,because every year is different in each of the 10 bear management units considering the percentage of bears harvested.And no non resident hunters only receive 2% of the tags issued.Question number 3 is a tough one i don't think there is a answer for that one,but myself i think they should throw them tags back in the drawing if you don't purchase by a given date.You know as well as i that the anti's are stealing are tags.
