Greetings,
It's getting that time again to start hunting the coyotes. I have an FX3 that I purchased last year. Called in one coyote this past July using the pup in distress. My question to all using electronic calls is, what is your favorite sound? Is the sound you use from foxpro or did you download elsewhere? I am hunting east of Lansing. Thanks
sunnenman

It seems to me that everyone LOVES the rabbit sounds. My train of thought is that if everyone is using the rabbit, then I need to make myself diffrent then the rest. So I have been using some off the wall stuff. The one that I think sounds pretty good is a goat in distress. To me it sounds good, but to a roaming coyote, perhaps it is not. Time will tell.

House cat distress sounded good to me last weekend but nothing showed up. It should produce with all the barn cats around. I'll be trying it again this weekend.

Was out the other eve helping my son hang a deer. The coyotes sounded good. Also SAW a couple shooting stars-they made no noise.

I am only limited to the few sounds that I have right now. I am not one of those lucky ones that own a coveted FP. I am stuck with the Preymaster call. It works good for what I need it for. I can not justify the incurred cost by purchasing one right now. Being a newbie, I do not want to get a lot of money wrapped up into something that I suck at. Now all I need is a partner who can sit still for 20 minutes and not move. I feel that if I continue to play around with the sounds and figure things out, that one of these sets, I will be able to pull a dumb dog out of the woods and give it too him. I just have to put the time in. I did also notice that HS does have 3-4 other cards to play in my caller, and thought about checking those out. I have not used it yet, but there is a "Woodpecker" sound on my caller, what is that typically used for? I also used the cat in distress, sounded pretty good. However, I have that goat, and I am going to use it until I am able to get one of those dang dogs to come in!!!

I still have yet to call anything in with the rabbit, I usually use the rodents in distress or the lucky bird.,

I hunt them night and day in Jackson and Hillsdale counties. I use only mouth calls, but what I have learned is to start out quiet and get louder as i go. I use a rabbit distress mouth call and if one comes into view i switch to a squeeze call (AKA a dog toy $1.99 at Walmart) and squeak on that when they are within 300 yards or so. I have brought them in to 40 yards numerous times this way. I also use an old wooden fawn call. When blown way harder than it was designed to be used it distorts like a rabbit distress call and operates at a lower volume. An old diaphram turkey call works good too

I have had luck with several and one that has proven itself is fawn in distress.
