I want to tie up some mice imitations and I couldnt find any deer hair that wasnt dyed at my local shop. The closest thing they had in mouse color was carabou hair. It doesnt feel like deer hair so I'm wondering if you can spin it and will it float like deer hair?

I don't know why not, it is hollow hair, as is deer hair.

Its not like deer hair though, its less brittle and feels more like fur than hair. I guess I will give it a try tommorow.

You have to find winter hair compared to summer hair. Same applies to deer hair when spinning.

Winter hair is thicker and hollow. Summer hair is very thin and not really hollow (maybe a little hollow but you really can't tell). My guess is that you have summer hair. Compare it to some deer hair you might have around. I've spun carabou, mule deer, deer hair, etc....... Like Esox said, you can spin most any deer hair as long as it is hollow. I suspect you might have summer hair which is good for wings (ala the comparadun) and such.
