I have a 30mm red dot scope and was thinking about going to a 50mm for a larger field of view. Has anyone used a 50mm red dot on their bow?

Thanks

It should not make a lot of difference if you shoot with both eyes open ,your field of view should be the same,Bud

That would be fine if that was how I shot but I don't shoot with both eyes open. I was wondering if anyone shoots a 50mm red dot and could give me their input.

Without any magnification, it really doesn't make much of a difference to be honest. Mostly extra weight and bulk, not to mention taking up a lot of room in the sight window. Might be worth a try if the field of view is an issue for you though. The only problem I see are that the 50mm red dots I have seen are the cheap models that I would never ever trust on my hunts. I'd take a quality 30-33mm model over those everytime.

Previously when shooting, whether with a gun or a bow, i've always shot with one eye closed. When I just recently bought an Onida bow with their set up that includes theit CP Pollington 30mm red dot sight, they told me to shoot with both eyes open when I first tried it out.
Since then, i've been shooting my bow that way, and for me it's made me a better shooter when either shooting at target or when hunting.
The idea is that for this particular sight, it makes one keep a consistent shooting form.

Hi,
Although it depends on what bow you have...many 50mm scopes hardly fit inside the sight window. And if it does, you will probably be very limited in the amount of adjustments that can be made. You can assume an improved field of view looking through the scope compared to a 30mm, but also consider the scope housing as a hindrance to your vision of the target.

Thanks

Thanks for all of your advice I think I may just stick with my 30mm scope.
