Its funny how they will eat 3 year old crap i mean carp but noe gills. I wonder what a nonresident license would cost to go catch some blues.

Gotta think guys it's an invasive species just like gobys are here. I mean yeah I garuntee most if not all of us here love gills on the plate but different strokes for different folks. (...and this is where the line between seriousness and sarcasm is crossed) Maybe they can sell them to us like they sell everything else to us. I hear Illinois will pay a high price for some pounds of bluegill meat
btw, since when does Illinois like bluegills more than any other sate?

Too bad the gobies don't grow bigger. This past summer, one of my kids caught and exceptionally large one (maybe 4" long), and as a joke, I said keep in and we'll eat it for lunch-so, just to call my bluff, my son tosses it into the live well. So, as to to be one upped by my son, I filet out the walleyes and tell him to toss me the goby-and I filet it out . Now the "filets" are about the size of an anchovie filet-but a nice white color. We go in to sautee up a couple walleye filets for lunch and I sautee up the goby "filets" also. Y'know, the one little (and I do mean little) taste I had-they were pretty darn good! Now, it would take about 1,000 of the %^%$&* things to make a dinner (for me only) and it would take about a whole day to filet 'em, but, at least i know it would taste good :dizzy:

Maybe we could set up a fisherman exchange program. They could come over here and catch carp, asian carp, etc and we could go over there and take care of that nasty little gill problem???? Man I LOVE gills!!!!! You can tell those people aren't Chinese, the Chinese will eat just about any fish, they're not picky!!!!

You're wrong about that! My inlaws are Chinese immigrants and they WILL NOT eat channel cats out of the Grand. The old man told me they taste like garbage and I believe him 100% because I won't eat them either.

This coming from a population of people that will eat the still beating heart of a bull frog because they think it will help them keep a woody longer, and their passing on bluegills? hahahhaha
It's simple, just tell them they'll be able to go all night long after a plate full, and that lake would be stripped bare of fish.

The Chinese and other Asian cultures eat many tons of catfish out of the black river here in Port huron and they say that they taste delicous,Not only that they are fishing by the hundreds up in mill creek and black river catching suckers and other reguarded garbage fish but they dont eat sheapshead out of the st clair river so go figure. Its amazing that the Japanese are so particular about eating certain fish but wont eat bluegills and consider them a nuisance fish. They would rather eat polluted carp instead strange indeed. They must have been improperly taught on what the benifits and high nutritional value the gills have. They have some large fish in Japans resivors with voracious appitites and sharp teeth Im sure readily feed on bluegills.

Sounds like we need to send them some pike overthere to plant in their lake!...They'll clean 'em up for them!...Then they can deal with all the little hammerhandles!...

I've got a Chinese friend that will eat just about anything. I caught a pretty good sized Sucker out of Croton and was about to throw it back and he asked me what I was doing. He told me he can make any fish taste good steaming it with some Ginger, cooking wine and some other stuff. I've had a few fish like that and they were good, however you couldn't pay me enough to eat a Sucker...or anything in the Grand either!!!
